Beautiful photos, Richard!

THANKS .. not sure why they are so big... if you google my name on Facebook, you can see what I post ... I usually post when things HAPPEN, meaning new pics... currently live in Kingman Az.. but have lived in the 4 quadrants of America.. I don't make "trips" to photo destinations, I picture what is within a reasonable distance...

If memory serves me correctly Nikon repaired a p900 for me several years ago years ago even though they had already come out with the p950 & p1000. So, I would give them a call to see if they have changed their rules or not.

I had a lens and a TC repaired at Nikon recently after I dropped them. The only way to determine if they can be fixed is to send both the camera and lens to Nikon if Nikon tells you to do that after you send in info regarding lens and camera. The estimated costs will vary depending on what they find once they start looking at the damage. They could go up or down.

Given the age of the lens and camera, it might be cheaper to replace them buy purchasing used equipment as repair parts may not be available and repair costs might exceed value of the damaged equipment.

I have a F mount 70-200mm f2.8 AF lens with a dead AF motor. I doubt if I will get it fixed as the cost may exceed its value and that assumes a AF motor is still available. It's hard to swallow but maybe its time to upgrade.

Nikon's time for fixing USA models in the USA is about 10 years post production. There are specific parts which do show up online, you would need to buy the OEM part new THEN find a tech willing to do the surgery required. All is all, unless YOU are the tech, is not likely a doable project. Good luck

That is no longer the case. For instance, support for the various flavors of the D800 ended a few months ago when the policy changed. Now that the Z8 has been announced, I am expecting notice that support for my D810 is ending. The supported models in that "line" will be the Z8 (current model) and D850 (last previous model). The D850 dates back to 2018, so that's about 5 years (at least right now). When a Z8ii is introduced, I expect that official support for the D850 will be retired.

I was told that Canon will be doing the same thing, if they haven't already. Both are following the lead of Sony, based on the "success" they have been demonstrating in the marketplace. Sony's model has long been to favor selling a replacement to repairing existing equipment.

Interesting. I just visited their site. And they do display the Nikon logo and claim to be an "authorized" repair station with Nikon parts, all of which is quite interesting, since NikonUSA completely (and very publicly) blew up their entire authorized repair network about three years ago, leaving only their two locations (Long Island and Southern California) to do warranty service or to source factory parts for other repairs. (By the way, they do not appear as one of the two available repair locations if you generate a warranty claim online, either.) Toward the end, even authorized repair stations could not order parts for backup inventory, only specific parts needed for specific repairs.

So while they very well may be able to repair the OP's camera or other cameras, they would start out with a big question mark with me for claiming something that there is no way that they can have.

That is correct... it is a new world now for getting repairs/parts for Nikon and Canon, the newer the more likely to happen... as people sell off and trade in Broken, more parts will become available, but NOT NEW in those cases. The same goes for lenses... some older BIG guns need new AF motors, and some stores/techs harvest trade-ins or buy them online to help provide SOME repair services for potential customers. Sites like these HELP a great deal in finding them.

I thought the same thing, but wonder if they can get parts from Nikon in Japan or some other local?

Nikon and Canon will not sell parts directly. I have seen online sellers selling OEM parts for many brands. I don't know if they are knockoffs or really OEM. I needed a Nikon D800 shutter and found a listed OEM part for about $45, but when I contacted the Store which does repairs, the quote to INSTALL was insanely high, so I opted out. Someone did buy the broken body and was happy to do so.
