I need my Nikon D4 repaired. Had it on a table today and the wind blew the table over and my camera hit the ground. It broke my 35x70 2.8 lens and when I tied to dee if it would work, I tried another lens and it would not take a picture. I see some black dots in the viewfinder that were not there before. Can anyone recommend a reliable repair shop near me. I am in Stone Mountain , Ga. I need it repaired ASAP.

IF it is not a grey market system, contact Nikon online, and they will give you an estimate... they are good IF they still servicing this model... otherwise, the parts may NOT be available anywhere... sorry, good luck... hopefully someone here will have better advice...

There used to be a good camera repair shop in Smyrna, but I don't remember its name.

Do you think I should consider replacing it?

Repair cost can be expensive. If it's grey market it's trash unless someone wants it for parts.

Used D4 are selling for less than $1000. Typically $600 or so. I think the repair will not be economical and will take a lot of time. I figure a month would be the fastest.

Even minor repairs are a few hundred because of them cleaning and testing the unit. Figure in parts and labor and it's going to be pricey

If the Smyrna shop is still there, the owner will be honest about your options. He was when I brought in a broken macro lens; not worth fixing, he told me.

Peachtree Camera Repair in Marietta is an authorized Nikon Repair shop. I've used them. Very good. Also try Berrie Smith in Dawsonville. He was the Nikon guy at Showcase Camera before they went out of business. 770 312 0719

Hi there, very sorry about your accident. Nikon stop supporting independent repair shop several years ago, so there is no use to look up any repair shop in the US. The Nikon Factory is the only source. But I noticed (as a repair pro for 40+ years) they are not able to repair and maintain their cameras as soon as the certain model production ending.

The reason for this, all those modern cameras (computer with optical devices) specially DSLR's can NOT be rebuilt. It is true that majority of parts assembly can be REPLACED, but they would not keep production of partial replacement parts. I noticed both NPS and CPS (professional repair service with expensive membership fee) would stop servicing soon after next model come out to market.

Hope you have accident insurance coverage, if you do, you have to talk
and negotiate with them. This is modern camera repair works.

I don't believe there are any 'authorized' Nikon repair shops. Also, looking at their website it looks like Peachtree quit in 2021.

https://www.facebook.com/peachtreecamera/

This says the business in unclaimed.

I seriously doubt Nikon would give you an estimate without first seeing the camera!
