This photo store in NJ carries several items cheaper than B&H . Could you comment on this location about its reliability ? Thank you in advance,

Regarding your comment about negative reviews and questionable reliability I want to add my endorsement of Unique Photo. I've been to the store several times and found the staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Their pricing is very competitive and I would not hesitate to use them.

A few years ago I was in New Orleans for a few days and dropped my camera and destroyed the lens. I ordered a used replacement from them and when I got home a two days later it was waiting for me. Doesn't get much better than that - except the lens was even better than they rated it!

Another happy Unique photo customer.
My Z6 and many of my Z lenses were pre-ordered through them.
They called when it was ready for pick-up, and held onto items, when I was away, and could not come immediately.

I find it a little funny that my Nikon equipment has been purchased using a Sony branded account, for 12 months no interest financing.

They also have camera show events, offering discounts, classes, enhanced rewards on their loyalty program.

Certainly worth considering, if you are local.
I have also done mail-order purchases with no issues.

Unique Photo is a great store and highly reputable. It's one of the largest camera stores in NJ (perhaps the largest), and I've bought from them multiple times.

I just looked at Unique Photo website to see as an example what Tamron lens for Nikon DSLRs and find it odd if these are new lenses they say No Coverage but offer 3 & 5 Year warranties when most of Tamron lens come with six year warranties.

I didn't mean to "meanly" send you to a dog like Abe's. It's just that prices are set the same for all new camera equipment from authorized US sellers. Anyone selling for less is selling something questionable, typically grey market. "New" grey market is equipment exactly the same as 'authorized US' equipment, built in the same factory, tested to the same quality standards, but selling at a lower price and without a US warranty. So, if there's a problem that should have been a warranty issue / repair, you're going to have to pay instead, assuming the brand manufacturer will even look at it. Abe's is a notorious grey market seller, so if you were looking at price alone and not support, you'll see Abe's always seems to be the cheapest.

There's one way to solve that question. CALL THEM UP AND ASK

No problem. I usually deal with B&H but might have checked Abe’s out but as with anything it would have been my responsibility to vet them. Since I’m not a GAS person I have at this point everything I need. Thanks for clarifying though.

Those are probably import models which is why Unique offers a non Tamron warranty. B&H also sells imported versions of products which are marked as such and don't come with a manufacturer's warranty. If you still have concerns about that, why don't you post a link to that lens here.

Unique is a highly respected and reputable dealer. It is a family-owned business opened in 1947 and has been around for over 75 years. It runs photography seminars as well as photography training programs.

They also sell a lot of the used equipment. When I went mirrorless I sold all my Canon DSLR equipment to them and got far more for it than I expected. I was hoping to get at least $1,000 for my gear, most of which was 8 to 12 years old at the time and well used. I was very surprised when they offered me almost $2,000 even though they weren't even interested in the oldest of my 3 bodies, the Canon 60D, and two of my lenses, which I subsequently gave away to a friend as a first serious camera for their son.

After years of doing business with them, all I can say is that my experience with Unique is on a par with B&H.

As an authorized dealer, how would any one store undercut the pricing of the others who all have to sell new equipment at the same price?

If a new item's price is covered by the official distributor's "unilateral price" program then all authorized retailers should be selling for the same price. For most authorized retailers we deal with there are some items whcih are not included in the program for reasons not shared with us.
If you see an item for a price lower than ours, contact us at sales@bhphoto.com or 800.482.8143 to ask abou price-match possibilities.

Henry, you are one of the reasons why B&H is so well respected by so many members of UHH.

Thank you mwsilvers for your info. I am looking for Canon RF 1.4 extender which was priced lower thank B&H with free S&H and no taxes. I also ran through a lot of customers' comments . Mostly the customers advised to stay away from Unique photo due to their bad customer services and their product quality. The disappointed customers called them "liars" !
I rather pay a little more for the Canon RF 1.4 extender than running the risk of getting headache or wasting my time !

That is not the Unique Photo that I know. Through the years I have purchased numerous items including camera bodies and lenses from them and I have found their sales staff and customer service to be equal to those of the best dealers in NYC.

Quality does not depend on the dealer, it comes from the manufacturer. A new Canon RF 1.4 extender is the same anywhere you purchase it. Whether or not it is grey market is a different matter. If you are shopping for used equipment, the dealer's ability to accurately describe the condition of the item is paramount.
