I’m with you on that comment. Love the churches and cathedrals and want to visit as many as possible, but like you said, on a tour it isn’t as easy. We’ve tried to do trips of half on our own and half tour to allow for both experiences.
I hope you get to hear the organ concert in the Mormon Tabernacle. That will be a great experience.

At my age (84) and traveling alone, I'm not up for self-guided touring any more. So I take canned tours. I am looking forward to the concert in the Tabernacle.

Well, it didn't happen. on 3 July I fell at my church and broke my left Humerus. Was in hospitals and rehab until the end of September so had to cancel my tour. Bummer! Fortunately, on a tour in 2009 to Salt Lake City I did attend a concert at the Tabernacle, and heard the organ.
