Thank you, Bill.

Both Google Lens and Merlin IDed the bird - all the pics - as a red-eyed Virio. But, I am no bird ID expert ...

Had I read your title I wouldn't have second guessed you. My bad for jumping right to the pictures.

Another of the migrating bird species passing through our neck of the woods, not common in our backyards (I wish)!

The virio was trying to grab something from the tree, so hovering for a second or two like a hummingbird, not furiously flying from one tree to another. That made the small BIF capture a little easier than usual.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Excellent set Ronnie.

Very nicely captured. Until recently I had not heard of these birds. Of the 15 different varieties only 5 are associated with northern Michigan so I feel vindicated. The Philadelphia vireo is not really from Philadelphia. The black whiskered vireo inhabits only the coast of Florida's southern tip. The black capped vireo is closely related to and mingles with the dreaded cowbird. Seems to be an extremely wide range for this variety. Natgeo's book of North American birds has interesting information on them.
