You better take a look at Nikon's current earnings reports on Dunn and Bradstreet. They are doing well.
Among the top sixteen biggest Imaging Companies, revenues for 2021:
1) Sony Imaging Divisions: 8.44 Billion USD, (Sony Corporation 85 Billion USD)
2) Canon Corp.: 5.11 Billion USD
3) FujiFilm Holdings Corp: 1.7 Billion USD
4) LifeTouch (School and Family photography): 1.5 Billion USD
5) Nikon: 1.16 Billion USD
6) Eastman Kodak: 1.15 Billion USD
7) Panasonic Holdings Corp.: 1 Billion USD
10) B&H Photo : 460 Million USD
11) Leica: 432 Million USD
12) Polaroid: 300 Million USD
13) Ricoh/Pentax Co. Ltd. : 116.9 Million USD
14) Adorama Camera: 100 Million USD
15) OM Digital Systems: 43.7 Million USD
16) Hasselblad: 38.6 Million USD
I would imagine Nikon's revenues for 2022 were even better after the release of the Z9 and many new Z lenses. I know Sony Imaging sales were reported by Bloomberg to be up an impressive 30% in 2022-2023.
The bottom line is Nikon is still behind in Imaging revenue behind Sony, Canon, Fuji, but Nikon is healthy now and in no real financial danger anymore ,after its cost-cutting moves and its introduction of excellent new products that are selling well.
USA orders for the Z8 are already going well according to reports from merchants. USA shipping out of Z8 orders are scheduled to begin May 24th. It is already available in many foreign markets, which normally get new Japanese camera releases before North America.
Cheers and best to you.
