AND, the latest and greatest.....

AND…best equipment is in the eye and use case of the user. Despite what some say here…MILC and DSLR bodies of both full and crop frame sensors of a variety of camera and lens builders…all are the best for some people. And…don’t forget the all important and all true 80/4 rule…80% of a good photo comes from 4 inches behind the viewfinder…and the best equipment in front of the viewfinder depends on many other factors beyond brand or format or mirror or not. We could debate that last fact here forever…but some of the fanboys won’t ever agree that equipment is far less important than the user. True…20 or 30 FPS gives you a better chance of a wall hanger in some situations than 5 FPS does…but in many other situations more FPS (or MP or whatever else you care to list)…is simply irrelevant.

Life is too short to not buy the best camera.

I think the no dual CFE card slots was a deliberate decision to separate it just a bit from the flagship Z9. If you require both backup to the second slot and high frame rates…a Z9 may be a better choice…but for backup and lower frame rates like say weddings the SD is just fine. For regular shooting, I generally set my cards to not backup but to overflow…but since I have never filled a card in an outing I could easily set the Z9 to that…and as a wildlife shooter I don’t have to worry about the deer or waterfall suing me.

I LOVE this "meme!"
I'll be ordering my Z8 as soon as the funds are available.

Mine is also on order to backup my Z9…the Z7II will either get sold or remain as the small walking around rig. While it does provide a backup if the Z9 were to die on a trip…the severely limited features compared to the Z9 and my inability to rapidly switch my brain from what the Z9 can do to what the Z7II can do in the heat of the moment have made the latter a spare or backup body…not a second body for shooting. The Z8 is actually what I wanted…I have zero need 9r desire for a gripped body and would have bought the Z8 over the Z9 in a heartbeat…with price having zero to do with that choice. Not selling the Zo though…having 2 almost the same bodies on an outing is a good thing unless I’m hiking a long way in chich case the Z9 might stay in the car.

Depending upon one’s photography goals, the best camera may also be a beginners or a prosumer model. For many, all the bells, whistles and highest tech features will serve no purpose. And for others, yes the latest technology will useful.

Yeah, maybe I better take another look at Sony. My A77 II is starting to give me trouble... :^)

The secret to success is to know when to buy a better camera.

Things work out for the artist that best has command over their tools. Whether it be a camera, set of paintbrushes, potters wheel, etc.

These aphorisms express the general beliefs and equipment-focused wisdom of the UHH community. I just parrot back the community's beliefs in easy to digest affirmations. UHH Admin should be paying me a stipend. I do collect membership dues from the Chg Canon Fan Boyz, those hats don't pay for themselves.
