The modern Democratic party includes a great many Blacks. Did you look at the Republican convention and how it was predominantly white men, while the Democratic convention included a lot of Blacks in the audience ? One thing many Republicans are right about is that the Republican Party needs to modernize itself to include Blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities.
There is a reason why minorities don't flock to join the Republican Party. The reason is that fundamentally, deep down, it is a party of racists. Not all Republicans are racists. But the party is not an inclusive party, racially speaking. Until it becomes inclusive, which will alienate much of its ultra right-wing, tea party orientation, it will lose more and more ground as the demographics of this country change and the vote swings more to the left.
So get used to the idea that the country is changing and the Republican Party must change or it will simply lose more and more ground with every election. And get used to the idea that Obama will be around for more than another four years, kicking butt like he has not done until now.

A couple of things. Oakland California was greatly improved by Jerry Brown, and he is a great Governor of a state with real financial problems. I lived in Oakland for 30 years, so I know more than you.

If those Republicans were living in the past they would be Democrats.
I grew up with those Democrats and have recently jumped ship and gone Republican as the rest of them did. The Democrats I grew up with were hard working and did not have their hand stretched out to looking for freebies. We worked hard and when our party started distributing or earnings to the Lazy, we got smart and switched.
