The Small Rig brackets have 1/4-20 threaded holes on several surfaces. I screw the eye holder into the holes on the side bracket leaving the bottom free for my clamps.

I have wimberley arca Swiss lens plates on my Sony telephoto lenses. I also use Black rapid straps that I connect to the wimberley plates via a threaded swivel when I want to hand hold and carry these lenses compared to having them mounted on a gimbal head. Unfortunately when I want to make the switch between hand holding vs tripod I need to unscrew the swivel from the Wimberly plate, which is time consuming. So I am looking for a quick release swivel to replace the threaded swivel current on the black rapid strap. I have looked at QD quick release devises, but I am not sure they are compatible with Wimberley plates. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I use a 38mm Arca clamp and attach the Black Rapid connector to it. I mount them on the lens so that the tightening knob is away from my body. They clamp securely and I've never had an issue with unexpected release.

Bmy a one inch wide clamp from RRS or Kirk, attach it to your Black Rapid strap. To mount your lens to a tripod head just remove the clamp from the camera plate and put the lens or body in the tripod clamp. This setup works on any Arca Swiss clamp wether on the lens or camera body. For long lenses best to use the foot on the lens!

thanks for the information. After researching this a bit, I think the best option is to replace the Wimbereley foot replacement with the Really Right Stuff replacement feet that include a QD receptacle. Also, I can replace the threaded swivel the a QD plug (for lack of a better word). Thanks again for the links, more info helps with the decision making.

Having fought this battle for many years and many wasted dollars, I share your pain. I replaced all and any past and future camera plates and/or lens feet with RRS and put a QD connector on my single and double Black Rapid straps. Perfect solution. I sleep well nights and no longer fear loose screws or wasting time. Do it once now and in the future and you're done. Also note that some of the RRS lens feet fit multiple lenses so you may save there. They just quick release also from one to the other. Strong advocate for this system.

The answer to your problem is the Acratech "Area Swiss strap adapter Swift clamp"
a beautifully made and brilliantly engineered solution for that exact problem. I have been using one for several years and it has never failed. It has failsafes built in like Lever lock and tension adjust for a very sure grip on an Area swiss spec plate. It is pricy but it works.

I agree Larry, that is an option. My fear on this approach being sure to check the A/S clamp regularly and wonder whether the QD option is safer. Should I be paranoid?
They (QD) work fine for war fighters to secure their weapons. Nice to be able to go from monopod/tripod/hand strap/shoulder harness with the same Really Right Stuff L Bracket.

Been using the RRS QD system for years and never looked back. A parade of bodies and lenses currently have, and have had, QD support. Started when RRS came out with a tripod carry strap and stared retrofitting tripods with QD holes. Then added to all their camera and lens plates. Love it. I have converted several photo club members to the system after they saw my speed and simplicity.
