One out of a hundred.....
Yup, 10% keeper rate is a pretty darn good day for me. Some days better, some worse.
for the photo.

That's how many shots I ran off trying to get just one decent look. I'm not sure if this qualifies as decent but it's the only result I have of chasing a crazed turkey vulture in, around, thru, up and over a dense forest. And I have no idea what he was chasing or fighting.
that was quite an adventure...bet it was fun!

World's ugliest bird! Especially if you see them on the ground eating dead animals.
But so elegant when gliding in the sky... A beautiful sight each and every time!

From my experience, the ugliest bird isn't chasing anything. They eat things that are already dead. Ugly and with bad taste buds.
But imagine they are not there to clean up dead stuff.... You'd have to pinch your nose each time you leave the house. May be bad taste buds, but they have a better sense of smell than your dog - this is how they locate their food. So, give 'em a bit of (breathing!) space.

We leave tomorrow. Pinckney Island and Cyprus Wetlands are on the list.
Pinckney and Cyprus are beautiful and teeming with all kinds of wildlife, including some fairly large gators. But lately, we hit the low country in early spring instead of mid-summer like we used to, because of the now-teeming human wildlife, especially at Pinckney. Seems to be a lot of photo ops at Cyprus, probably because it's more off the beaten path, but the one option generally available at Pinckney is to have someone drop me off (no parking available - ever!), though there's no guarantee they'll come back for me
Not bitching - it is what it is. Have a safe trip and, as usual, I will look forward to your shots.

Challenging might be more the operative word, but yes, fun, after you realize you ain't gonna get any better. Thanks.
That's the word I was searching for, thank you.
