Here how one source describes the difference between Win Home and Win Pro:
Windows Home is the basic version of the operating system designed for home users, while Windows Pro is a more advanced version aimed at businesses and professional users. Here are some of the key differences between the two:
Security: Windows Pro includes additional security features such as BitLocker encryption, Windows Defender Application Guard, and Windows Information Protection.
Remote Desktop: Only Windows Pro allows users to connect to a remote computer using Remote Desktop.
Virtualization: Windows Pro includes Hyper-V, a virtualization platform that allows users to create and run virtual machines.
Networking: Windows Pro has additional networking features such as Domain Join, Group Policy Management, and Remote Desktop Services.
Device management: Windows Pro allows for more control over device management, including the ability to manage updates, configure policies, and control access to apps and data.
Overall, Windows Pro includes more features and functionality designed for businesses and professional users, while Windows Home is a more basic version designed for home users.
My new computer came with Win Pro and I haven't seen any differences in what use I make of the computer.

I use PSE only
For photo processing you don't really need the most powerful computer, but do need one that includes or can be upgraded with a good graphics card. 16GB of RAM is sufficient, though it would be nice to have room to expand later if wanted. I'd also want spare room inside to fit additional drives for storage, as well as connectivity for external backup. Photos and videos take up a lot of space!
The monitor is probably the most important consideration. You want one that's got a wide color gamut, ideally 1 billion colors and 100% sRGB, as high Adobe RGB as possible. It also should be possible to calibrate the monitor. That's important if you want accurate color rendition and brightness in your images, even if you wait to add a calibration device later. The BenQ PhotoVue and Photographer monitors are good examples that are among the more affordable. They have 24" (16:10), 27" and 32" models (16:9), both HD and 4K depending upon how deep your pockets might be. Some of their models come with a shade or can optionally be fitted with one. And with some they offer bundles that include a calibration device.
the 'pro' computers are at work -
an IBM z16 multiframe (4 frames, 64 engines)
and our distributed processing cluster (currently around 700 nodes, 20,980 Intel Xeon cores and 190 GPUs)
Neither runs any photo editing software...

and a Sandbox Utility for opening 'sketchy files' or uncertain ones. They can be opened in a Sandbox and when you close them; there are no remnants of them on your system.
Definitely better and clearer advice here then the from the rep at best buy.

also memory issues, but not likely to be a problem except for 32bit processors. Updated for Win 11, but didn't know how to delete initial graphics.

Thank you all for your help.
Thanks for the info... let us know how it works out for you.
When I upgraded I got a gaming computer at a mid-range price. Most have a fast processor and a up graded video card for the games. Just make sure you get enough RAM. Remember both Lightroom and Photoshop use 8 gigs of RAM each so if you are running both 16 gigs will not be enough since you will also have an OS running on RAM along with any other program that is open like Email or Browers.
PS The hardest part of finding a good gaming computer is one that does not have a light show going on like an 80s Disco Floor.
