In this case I tend to like the color version a little better. In the color, the barn really stands out from the background. It draws the attention as it should, being the main point of focus. It also conforms well to the rule of thirds.
While I tend to like B/W in general for the mood it brings to the photo, there just isn't enough contrast to the barn and it gets lost in the background. This shifts the focus to the fence, which due to the contrast becomes more prominent.
Nice work Tommy. B&W for me. The grass in color overpowers the foreground. The fence comes thru nicely with rhe grass more subdued.
Like them both but my choice is color.

Nice capture. My $.02 (loosely quoted from some photographer I can’t recall):
If you want the viewer to see what you saw, use the color version.
If you want them to feel what you felt, use the B&W.
Well put. I definitely prefer the B&W.

This is a great comment. In my view, they are both wonderful and different (as stated), however, in my mid'seye, I could envision a third one where the color image is desaturated slightly....just my perspective and not worth a full $0.02.

For me the colour edges the monochrome but both look a little drab - need brightening up a bit IMO. Also the slight vignetting doesn't help either.
Must be a curse born into artists. We just can't seem to lessen our love for colors, however both of these are beautiful.
