We have had some stormy weather out here for the past week or so. I've used that opportunity to try and capture some "mood" shots of some of the local barns before and after our little storms. When I posted the images in color, folks suggested I might try and do them in black-and-white as well. Well, here it is. Let me know what you think.

Well done, Tommy! To me, each photo conveys a different mood. Two for the price of one shot.

I like the color better, with the red barn and green grass setting off against each other.

Nice capture. My $.02 (loosely quoted from some photographer I can’t recall):
If you want the viewer to see what you saw, use the color version.
If you want them to feel what you felt, use the B&W.

Tommy, I'm not too much into Black&White therefore I like the color shot myself.

What a great way to explain the difference!

Tommy...great shots...I really like them both for different reasons. I really don't think winter wants to let go of her hold on us just yet.

In this case, I like the color better. There is much more contrast separating your subject, the barn, from it's surrounding. With different post-processing, the B&W could be quite interesting.

These are both nice, Tommy, and I am a black and white fan, but a nice red barn shot in color is hard to beat.

What I think is the BW focuses the viewers on shape and form and textures. To that effect it makes me the viewer, see the barn, and that nice framing using the fence, more clearly.

However what I think doesn't matter. What do you think? That's what matters.

I'm a color fan, but I think I like the b&w better in this photo because it gives it a real retro, farming look.
