I bought a monitor several years back, and the results were horrible. Obviously I didn't do it right, but patience has never been a strong suit of mine. What monitors out now would you recommend, and do they have to cost hundreds of dollars?

If it costs one hundred dollars it would be rather at the bottom end. So if it costs hundreds of dollars it seems to be the norm.

Check out the line of BenQ monitors - they have excellent prices on very good monitors.

But more significantly you didn’t act to resolve the issue due to lack of patience? I don’t think the resolution to the lack of patience can be found here. But then I could be wrong. UHHers can often solve problems for each other. Maybe lack of patience is one of them.
Do monitors cost hundreds of dollars? Yes they do, and the good ones can cost thousands of dollars.

Monitors in the $400 to $700 range are sufficient for all but the pickiest color correctors.
HOW you use the tool is more important than the tool itself. I'd rather own a $400 monitor and a $250 calibration kit than a $650 monitor and NO cal kit!

Well that what I said. Monitors in the hundreds of dollars range are the norm. In the thousands it's high and if it's only $100 it's too low. If it's more than $199 it's hundreds of dollars.

I only respond to the question "Do I have to spend hundreds of dollars" The answer is yes. If you spend less than that it's junk.
