For about three years everyone was yelling that the national wage should be 15.00 an hour. It wasn't enough to raise the 7.85 an hour to 10.00, no it needed to go to 15. Now McDonalds pays 15 and WalMart and Sams pay 17 an hour. So now a family of 5 can expect to pay around 60.00 at a fast food restaurant. At a store I went into in SC the half-gallon ice cream (that is no longer a half-gallon) was over 6.00. Last night I saw a sleeve of sodas in our local grocery here in PA is now 9.29. Not long ago you could buy two and get one free, which would be 12.00 for three sleeves. I still say all our politicians both Republicans and Democrats are lying through their teeth. They want us to believe we are experiencing an 8.5% inflation rate but from what I've seen, we are at 20%+. We are getting hit in two directions -- the government raising the interest rate in order to quell inflation (which adds to inflation!), and the 15.00 + an hour wage. Well, a lot of people wanted to see it so I hope they are happy now!

"Had the federal minimum wage kept pace with workers’ productivity since 1968 the inflation-adjusted minimum wage would be $24 an hour."

So $15 is actually a rip-off.

You want to live well on the exploitation of low income workers; but what you should do is make more money for yourself. And if you're one of the exploited workers, then re-evaluate what you are doing.

You really think our politicians would lie to us? Nah. Surely they wouldn't do that would they? Well: maybe Santos would?

Maybe wages should be higher depending on what their contribution is to the final product.

And you still ignore the fact that minimum wage laws are de facto taxes, not integral to the product cost.

Our government? Yikes !, the only-knows-one-dance Federal Reserve insanely applies what did not work before to today's world with no consideration of consequence, collateral damage of people and continuance of a thriving economy... "And The Band Plays ON." as did the The Titanic Violinist. Will the Fed successfully allow us to relive 1929?

"And the band played on" is an expression used to describe the deliberate masking or downplaying of an impending calamity by authorities.

The last time this nation was in such dire financial straits was the direct incompetence of LBJ! He insisted on fighting a military engagement without paying for it. Sound familiar? It should. U.S. presidents have continued fighting around the world thinking "Let the next generation pay for this." At some time and in some way we HAVE to pay for our actions. Roosevelt sold the idea of kicking that responsibility down the road and the nation bought into that mentality. The U.S. actually had a sur-tax in the very early 1970's but the effort was too small and too late. Until the United States adopts a more sound financial policy and closes its checkbook to buying votes this nation is headed down the road of financial ruin. Case in point; The state of Michigan has a large surplus in its treasury. The governor is trying to buy more votes by "giving" every voter a $180.00 REBATE! It is NOT a rebate, the money belongs to those voters whether the governor knows it or not! Elected officials have been allowed to play foot-loose and fancy-free with the citizen's own money. Those officials (incumbents) are headed for a gigantic surprise when the citizens say "ENOUGH!." The self-appointed idiots we call "media" have no clues as to what is going to happen, they have no idea what is actually happening now. Instead, the media fawns false hope and praise on a fool who gropes women and hides behind "aviator" sunglasses thinking he is "cool" and is idolized by his minions. He is neither, but he IS dangerous!

Wait a year or 2 at the most when the dollar is no longer the world currency. Hyperinflation is the word. Also the US will have no power to sanction anyone. When I bought my first home in 1990 I had a 10.25 percent interest rate with excellent credit. So I too have lived thru worse but I'm moving all my money to gold and silver as we speak.

Here is the problem: We that are reasonably well educated and have worked in the private sector understand the dangerous direction our nation is headed in. I mention the private sector because many of our educators believe in and teach indoctrination and socialization (a phrase someone on UHH coined) ahead of education and have become more part of the problem than the solution. The educated and informed are losing ground to the less educated and less informed. When we basically have an open border and have politicians who want people to be able to vote whether they are citizens or not, we are basically losing this country! Yesterday I saw a bus advertising work with a local company. The ad was 3 ft tall in Hispanic and about 1 ft in English. I am not racist and have both Hispanic and Black friends but I still do not want this country to become a subdivision of Mexico and places beyond. Not because of skin color, but because I want English to continue as our native language. We are being assailed from without and within and if we do not wake up in the near future it may be too late.

Still have stupid trump postings and inflation is decreasing as pent up demand and supply shortages have eased. What prices are doubled now?

Because those on the left can't get over it and have to keep posting Trump posts. Eggs. And we are paying ~$150 per week for groceries that 3 years ago cost us ~$90, not double but FAR higher than they should be. Thanks moron democrat voters.

Now suffer. I have no sympathy.
I laugh and say that this misery is owned by the democrats.
Problem is that the idiots who voted for this lunacy do not see any correlation and will now demand $25 an hour for a living wage and the democrats will give it to them just in time for an election.

The Dimocommies may give it to them, but how many businesses will still be in business to pay it?

My groceries are about 10% higher than a year ago and I pay sales tax on them. Can you be specific of why your groceries are more than that? I see the trend decreasing and don’t see where Biden policies have been the cause. Your ideas of how to change the dynamics of supply and demand?

I specifically said 3 years ago, and yes, looking at one year ago, after so much hurt from the changed regime, it may be closer to 10-15%. I'm afraid my attention/tolerance span has dwindled too far to offer a solution, other than removing this disastrous caliphate and returning to a more citizen/business friendly administration.

Your posts are full of hot air.

Maybe, you and I will agree on Asa Hutchinson as president.

BS - Those are economic facts, not opinion.

Every time you respond you show just how ignorant you are on matters of economics and politics.

Labor costs are integral to all forms of economic endeavor. Or did you miss that the day it was taught in high school econ?
