When I saw the title my first thought was whining about the cost of the Lightroom/Photoshop subscription. Then I saw you had it first on your list!

I'll add three:

Especially the last 2 items.

WOW!!
There are so many choices to pick from. The key variable is the cost of something. Everything will go up in price.
I found a receipt of a roll of film in 2001. I spent $5 but I don’t know what kind of film it was. I am inclined to believe that it was a 36 exposure roll of KODAK BW400CN. I brought it to be processed a week later. I was charged $8. Those were interesting times. Unfortunately, the store is no longer there. In its place is a sports bar and a cigar shop. I guess I’ll go and get an Ashton and a Guinness. Times have changed.
The roll of film tripled in price and so did the processing. I can’t say what the price of a pint glass and a cigar cost back then. I was too young to drink or smoke.
Simple pleasures are no longer cheaper. Now I have to process a roll of film through the mail.
We could spend time lamenting over the past or we should adapt to the changes!

Best of all, I found a book, “Making Kodak Film” by Robert Shanebrook. Even though I haven’t finished it yet, it is a great read. I recommend it!

There are several positive benefits to subscriptions that are often overlooked.

The Lightroom/Photoshop program is better because of the subscription system. The steady cash flow allows planned, intentional and effective product development. They know what they can invest and work on it consistently.

If you have a business, it is a lot easier to "expense" lower monthly costs than to "invest in" and "depreciate" expensive assets.

It helps to minimize software piracy. Besides being wrong, "pirates" don't contribute to the company's product development that we that pay benefit from.

I have yet to use any of these software packages. Part of the reason is I have always worked with the camera. Everything I do is in the camera. Besides, my computer is from the year of the flood. Not
only is it so antiquated, it asks, “Who am I?” I guess I need to stumble into this year’s technology.

It easy for you to said the cost of film is no big thing, but a person like me who is living on a fix income. It is a big thing; to the point where I have stop using film cameras.

I’m with your last one. Who the hell cares whether someone else shoots Raw or Jpeg?

But there are so many people who think (believe) that everyone should be utilizing a particular method,
and they'll justify out the wazoo why.
Similar with cameras.....

I believe most EVERYONE is living on a fixed income.
Unless you are self employed and choose how much you want to work.

Throwing the blame for poor photos on their equipment - Develop and refine your technique and educate yourself first please.
