Current MacOS version is 24.3.0.

You can find the version by right-clicking or control-clicking on the Photoshop application icon in the Applications folder and choosing Get Info (Command + I).

All I can say is it's a good thing you have a head start. When I try to introduce a new club member to PS they shake their head soon enough and end up buying Affinity or Luminar.

GM, Chevrolet "the industry standard" has been around for 100 years; Adobe "the industry standard" founded in 1982, 40 years ago. GM is near it second bankruptcy, to avoid bankruptcy the expensively unaffordable Photoshop in desperation went to the monthly rental basis. Too many were using one addition for years to avoid the high cost of upgrading with little return. GM avoided E-Cars and are now in trouble from upstart Tesla which is years ahead and wallowing in cash while reducing prices and updating quickly in-house... old struggles to change from what old ideas of what worked worked in the past, new new competitive software joyfully improves. Adobe people wear a Trump-MAGA red hat... for them MAGA standing for "Make Adobe Great Again." Adobe and its loyal followers are struggling to change and compete beyond classic "we are the greatest" chant and a world of followers that march in unison as in the in the famous Macintosh 1984 ad ... The modern editing tools based on modern computer language "Affinity... Best subscription-free alternative to Adobe Photoshop." Affinity will cost about $40-$70/lifetime with free updates til major change which in the case of Affinity 2 that was 5 years, compared to Adobe PS about $21 per month continuing or it disappears. Your $21/m or $250/Y will buy a wonder of modern AI plugins to attach to even years old editing software.

If Nobel Prize winner Bob Dylan were ask, he would sing... "Don't stand in the door way times are a-changin' ...the first will be last." So it is going for Photo shop and Adobe. Photoshop people, times have changed, time for you to get out of the door way and go with the flow.

You have not quoted the current Photographers package price. The cost for Ps, LrC + is still $9.99 per month. That is about what one stop per month at Starbucks will cost you.

Perhaps it is time to switch to a modern buy and use photo editor not the rental like PS. Perhaps that is the update "girl" images is telling you to date that girl Sorry for your frustration with Adobe, I was stopped years ago by PS and its learning curve... Reflecting on my home car repair, a big box of expensive "Snapon Tools" far too expensive when utilitarian "Craftsman Tools" do all I want and need to fix my photos.

Photoshop is a program the discourages beginners from editing photos, it is excessively complicated. New approach is to have a good basic editor and AI plugins. This year AI is improving flamingly fast ... example NVIDIA's Canvas 360 which is free in its Beta form... some programs you will just use a microphone to tell it how to modify your photo. Eventually a Tesla Nuro-transplant will only require you to think. Film to Digital was a revolution, now editing is in a state of disruptive revolution. As in Cars, the OEMs editors like PS will be left in the dust by the new e-cars AI editors they ignored. Playing catch up is a hard path, hard to think in a new language ... PS will try; will they succeed?

Such a closed minded reply. The "other photo editors" do offer some tweaks and almost all are geared to work as Photoshop or Lightroom Classic plugins. Topaz especially with PhotoAI and deNoise, Gigapixel, etc are for me, best used as plugins for my workflow.

The most important point is to make a decision on your software and then really learn all it can do before complaining that it doesn't do this or that. Establish a work flow. Read. Watch Youtube tutorials etc.

Yes, perhaps you can look at their earning report. Most of their revenue and profit is based on other venues than Photoshop and Lightroom. Most of it is based on commercial products like cloud hosting and business apps.

And I don’t know where you live but the photography bundle is about $120 year. I pay $80/yr for all of the creative cloud bundles.

Affinity Photo is a great product and it is the best value for a paid product (if you really want to be cheap get Gimp). But it has no digital asset management.

I teach Photoshop and Lightroom, but I use another product as my primary solution, on1. However, changes that adobe has made around masking makes it the superior product on the marketplace, whether you use Photoshop or Lightroom. You can do most of your work even as a pro in Lightroom now, and only have to go over to Photoshop for very specific features.

Agree about choosing my own splash screen. The car reminds me of the "early model Chevrolet" on the cover of Jackson Browne's great album, "Late for the Sky."

A month ago I had a car as the first image in PS. The girl appeared with an update, but I had to change my entry password and the car appeared again. I don't really care because the functionality is fine and the version number is latest. This "bad Adobe business" leads us to a pointless discussion. It is impossible not to notice that PS is the best photo editing software, because it was created as a design software. That it is difficult to learn, YES, that it has many functions much more than the competition, YES, but once you know the basics and concepts of the program, you will love it

Absolutely correct. We live in an age of instant gratification. You can't play well on a guitar the first time you picked it up. This is true for Photoshop. More effort=more reward, a concept that many have forgotten

Adobe transferred to a subscription system because 90%+ of amateur users were using illegal copies. In the UK you could pay £600+ for the Adobe suite plus £150 every year or two for updates. £10pm, plus regular online checking of their software, brought the illegal users back inline and ensured that Adobe were properly rewarded for their products.

I never fail to be amazed that large numbers of Hoggers moan about paying a modest £$10 per month for their hobby. How much did you spend on film pre digital? What does all your kit cost and how much duplication do you have? Cut out the GAS and pay for good software. Yes you may prefer Adobe competitors but where else can you get the quality and depth of Adobe CC regularly updated at no extra charge?

Finally do you wish to master your hobby and enjoy the rewards of your hard work and expertise or do you wish to claim the credit
for what some AI programme has created?

Your comment is well taken and that's a shame.

Because a small amount of brain power is needed to use PS a certain segment of people feel it is necessary to lobby agains it. Maybe it makes them feel inadequate. There are thousands of things you can do in PS but no one knows them all or needs them all. You simply have to learn what you need and then use it.

I think their dissatisfaction extends to LR also and they don't realize that they use exactly the same tools and operations when a RAM image is opened. What is so difficult about moving a LR slider and viewing the results??

It seems that they also miss the point that LR lends itself to quick, easy editing and PS is for photo manipulations. I have yet to see software that offers all the options and operations that LR has.
