What causes that?

Manufacturing defects, age, improper charging, mis-handling, heat, cold…

So on buying a new camera to replace the EM-5.. The EM-1 is essentially the same size as my Nikon Z7. I love the size of the EM-5. I want the BSI sensor in the OM-5. If they had done that I would already own it.

The EM5mkII is verrrry slightly smaller than the EM1mkII in overall size, but a much beefier grip makes the EM1mkII *feel* somewhat bigger in your hand.

So by feel the difference seems real but when youre packing your kit bag theres not any difference worthy of mention.

Thank you for that.

Of course the kit size and mass is important and I love the 4/3 format for reason it is small and light. M43 is my carry around everyday, hiking and adventure, and travel camera. The entire kit camera, 4 lenses, battery charger, packs smaller than a couple lenses and my FF camera.

Moving up to a Mark II definitely has some perks such as improved autofocus, better low-light performance, and faster burst rates. But, it's important to consider the photography style you have and determine whether those benefits are essential. If you're happy with your current camera's performance and don't need the extra features, you may want to consider a replacement of the same model or something similar from Olympus or an alternate brand.

And just think how small it will be with only two lenses.

And ... m4/3 is possibly the ultimate in one-lens zoom kits. Reason is that the smaller the format, then all the more ratio/speed/quality can be built into a given barrel size. Did you ever envy the huge zoom range and high speed of the zooms for 16mm cine cameras ?

Compare the m4/3 12-35/2.8 to any FF 24-70/2.8. That lens or the 12-100/4.0 makes a perfectly amazing one-lens kit.

I just punched the BUY button on the Olympus site for an OM-1 and a battery charger + extra battery.

Mine is dead. Trying to decide on replacing it or moving up to a Mark II. I do street and general photography; no wildlife or sports. The price difference is about $400. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
You mentioned maybe wanting a camera so this is FYI.

OM Systems is having a sale, $200-300 off on cameras (depending on model). The sale ends today 3/25.

AAwww, mannn... That muffin and the stout that made it gotta be good! I have a killer recipe for a chocolate stout cake around here somewhere. I made it twice and my wife banned it.

Congratulations! That is an awesome camera. Have you seen Chris and Jordan review it on DPReview channel on YouTube? I think they featured it several times.

Let's see, 20x36 = 720 clicks... Okay, that sucker isn't even broken in yet!

Enjoy.
