I use a Dell U2718Q which has been replaced by U2723QE currently selling for $585.00. It’s not “top of the line” but still makes me happy. I also have a E2020H that I extend as a second screen for my layers…history…histogram…etc panels…I like using the full real estate of the 27 for photos.
To each his own.
My two OTS HP and Acer monitors work fine for me (less that $150 each),
and I use the full 23/24" for photos.
(3 more diagonal inches won't do anything special for me.)

I am seriously considering replacing my aging iMac with a new M1. That means I will have to purchase a separate monitor. Because I am used to my 27”, I will want another in comparable size.
Does anyone have suggestions for a good quality monitor suitable for photo editing? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
look before you leap. Be aware there are big changes regarding calibration of Apples new XDR technology and if regular calibration is part of your routine be prepared to make some changes. I’m not saying the changes are bad, but it’s a different paradigm, so be ready for that.
My BenQ has been excellent.
I knew someone like you would take what I said this way. I'm an Apple person but in this case what I was doing was putting a knock on them. Apparently you don't know what sarcasm is. The apple watch has a feature that is ridiculously called a "COMPLICATION". What the hell is that all about? It's supposed to be a FEATURE yet they incredibly call it that. So lighten up.

Someone like me? Haha. You have absolutely
NO idea of who I am.
Perception and conjecture....
If I knew
anything about Apple, I MAY have understood.........
Therefore I couldn't make the connection and didn't get the joke,
and interpreted it with respect to things I am aware.
New words for
everything these days. Too many things...
No lightening up required.

Seemed like humor to me. But you attack??
Time to unwatching this thread now.

If you go to their website you can often find refurbished models for less

I'll bet there IS a LONGSHADOW wherever you go. LOL you must be a hoot at parties. I'm leaving this. I've seen enough of your BS
John - check out the BenQ line of monitors. Look for 99% Adobe RGB, 3D LUT and hardware calibration.
I didn't have room on my desktop for a 27" so I bought the 24" version and love it. I found it more effective than the software calibration I used previously.

Longshadow is one who doesn't BS in my opinion. Oh well it's only my opinion. I didn't feel your first post as kidding either.
There are now a variety of connection options between monitors and computers (HDMI, USB c, display port, etc.) Newer Macs tend to have USB c connections, sometimes referred to as Thunderbolt when used to connect a monitor). While most of these connections types can connect to each other with the right adapter or cable, you may want to check the interconnectability between non Mac monitors and your new Mac.
I have a referb BenQ SW271C which was less than half the price of a new one.

If your new computer will support 4K give that serious consideration in your new monitor. I recently purchased a Dell monitor with it. The difference, to me, is amazing.
