So true. A few years back, someone on YouTube gave professional photographers really cheap or toy cameras to see what results came back. To no one's surprise, the photos were outstanding (given the resolution and other camera limitations).

I don't care what camera people use, I look at the results.

If someone frowns on particular equipment because they don't care for it,
they're riding too high a horse.

So I have sold/traded in all of my gear for a simple but powerful Ricoh GR III. Built in IBIS, ND filter, fixed lens with built in lens cover, live histogram, focus peaking and electronic level, and best of all, designed for one handed shooting.

Does UHH frown on Ricoh owners? Just wondering because I don’t think I have ever seen a Ricoh post.

This forum is predominately populated by Canon and Nikon aficionados. There are a few Pentaxians here, me among them, but we seem to rank below the MFT crowd. The forum’s brand population pretty much matches the brands ranked by sales.

You could take a good photographer and he could take 12 pictures with 12 different cameras and you won't be able to tell what camera did what picture. It's the result

If Ricoh made a Left-Handed version of the RICOH GR IIIx (26mm lens) I might be tempted to buy one. My right hand is very arthritic. So it is hard for me to hold and use my Pentax DSLRs and SLRs. I have a Fujifilm X100T camera but I hate the menus and control locations and the 23mm lens is not ideal for me. I would prefer a 35mm lens for the APS-C format.

Instead of another 'silly question' thread, you could have used the UHH search function.

People act as though their preferred brand is all that exists. I should not have to have learned the specialized Nikon lingo; talk about Nikon DSLR lenses still sounds like ‘Old -McDonald’s Farm’ {“AI, AI NO”} to my Pentax {owned by Ricoh} ears.

Haha.. my first 'real' camera was a Ricoh SLR back in 1974. Used it to document my overseas military adventures. It was built like a tank and got a lot of abuse as a result. Wouldn't hesitate to own another Ricoh.

There's been a few Ricoh posts, but since the camera isn't as popular as the big 3, it's not a main topic of animated debate. I haven't seen any UHH'r post disparaging any of Ricoh products. Your experiences with it, including some image posts, would bring some fresh discussion the the forum. Have fun with your new toy!

This reminds me of a story about one of the old time professionals that was changed by an individual that said he could take just as good a photo as the pro if he had a camera like his. It was put to a test by letting him use the same camera that the pro used and the pro used an old 620 Kodak box camera. The results showed the guy that it was not the camera but the user that makes a great photo. The artical showed the photos that each took and it was obvious which was the best.

I can’t speak for everyone here but I say use the camera you like! And that can change over time. They are good cameras, so find a camera that likes you and use that.

We are living in a golden age of choices, viva La choices!

Right! In the end, the camera is just the recording device. It’s the nut behind the lens that creates the picture.
