"only thr good die young"

Billy Joel borrowed that line. I first heard it before WW2. And many times thereafter. [But I don't do Billy Joel, so not from him.].

Anyway, back to my original post. I would love to think about heaven but I'm not sure that heaven and my misspent youth are compatible. As the song goes, "Smoking, drinking, never thinking of tomorrow.... :-)

Reflect, learn from the past, ask forgiveness, and lead your life in a good way from now on. If your sorry ask for forgivness. When you get to heaven, find a nice park bench and save a spot for your wife, dont be selfish or impatient, let her live a long healthy life

I have used the Canon Pixma Pro 10 and after it gave me many years of excellent service I got the Canon ProGraf 300 and it is fantastic. It uses pigment inks and prints up to 13x19. It can also print a panorama print up to 39x13. Red River actually sells that size paper. I highly recommend it.

I will have to look into Jose's channel. I am considering the pro 200 if I decide to go to a cartridge ink.

I would at other printers beside 8550. I need a photo printer, scan, copy, device so I went with it. 4 machines replaced in 6 months sums it up. Is 5th time the charm

I felt the print was the conclusion of all my work. I spend money on equipment, travel, computer etc. Add to that the time and effort to get to the point of the PICTURE. So when I went to an Expo and Canon was printing a picture for you and was using a Canon Pro 1000, I decided to go with that. I never turned back.
It was expensive but so was my equipment and that is my final product being finished.

Ok Hoggers, I'm not a pro but I have sold a few prints. I'm currently without a large format printer and would like to get a new one. I would like one that will print up to 13"x19". Of course larger would be ok too depending on operating cost. The last large format printer I had was the Pixma Pro 100. I don't really want to go back to a cartridge type and would rather go with a tank type ink system. I have been looking at the Epson 8550 and it interest me but I have heard a few mention having trouble with it. Do any of you have experience with it?
I'm not a cheapskate but I'm not loaded either so I would like to keep the cost around a thousand bucks or so.
I have looked at pigment type and dye type and while I would rather go with pigment I don't believe the cost of ink for a pigment printer is practical for me. If someone can educate me more on that I would appreciate it. In fairness to any prospective buyer I do think about the longevity of pigment vs dye.
This printer would be dedicated for photo printing alone as I have printers for other printing needs.
I know it is ultimately my decision but I would greatly appreciate any helpful input.

I purchased the Canon Pixma Pro 200 about a month ago. It prints magnificent photos up to 13x19.
It uses 8 pigment cartridges. I just bought a set of 8 from B&H for about $105. Individual cartridges are about $14.
I also considered the 8550, but when I compared photographs, the Pro 200 looked better.
The printer lists for about $600.
You can also download Canon’s Print and Layout software, which interfaces with my Photoshop Elements, and other editing software.

Sorry to contradict you but the Canon Pixma Pro 200 uses dye ink. It is the ImagePROGRAF Pro 300 which uses pigment. I have the latter and would recommend it although it does use small cartridges. Those in the 1000 are much bigger. I actually refill using OctoInkjet inks in the UK.

I noticed the cartridges for the 1000 are a whopping 80ml. That is a bit of a plus for me.

The 80ml cartridge is a good thing. That gives you value. They last a long time and hold up.
