Last night in Los Angeles, veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Oscar Award. The daughter of screen legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, the versatile Jamie Lee Curtis has played both serious dramatic roles and comedy roles. All the great nominees in that Oscar category deserved to win, but Jamie was long overdue too. Here is a shot I made for Newsweek Magazine back in 1983 of Jamie Lee Curtis with her co-stars Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd on one of their Philadelphia locations with Independence Hall in the background, while making the movie Trading Places, which is still a comedy classic. Way to go Jamie Lee Curtis.. BTW both Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd have been Oscar Nominees themselves in their long acting careers.
I have had the pleasure of photographing many Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and Grammy winners over my career, and Royalty, Presidents and other World Leaders and five Nobel Peace Prize Winners among too many to list over five decades.
I am also a fan of them, so it was fun as well as work. LOL
We photojournalists have the best jobs in the world at times when we are not dodging bullets in a war or on the streets, or covering tragic disasters. Been there, done all that too.
Cheers and best to you all.

What a great photo!
Thanks so much. You should know they are real super nice and funny in person too, not just an act.

I can certainly believe that!

My fifteen minute ! I shared a picture I took of Marilyn Monroe in Korea in 1954 with one of the top photographers for Rolling Stone Magazine and he was quite complimentary ... and modest.
I know this is slightly off-topic, and I'm delighted that Jamie Lee Curtis won an Oscar, but it dismays me to no end that Harrison Ford (who presented the Oscar to his "Raiders" co-star, Ke Huy Quan) has never won. I consider that an injustice of the utmost magnitude.
Dan Aykroyd really changed. I would not recognize him without you telling me who it was. I'm used to the older, heavier version. Curtis was so good in the movie "True Lies". I think she won a Golden Globe award or something similar.

Of Course, It's all about you! They're only celebs because you photographed them! When one wins an Oscar, it's all about you again!
