Sore loser is Angelia Bassett. She neither stood nor even clapped while sitting for Jamie Lee. I'd hate to be around her when she gets back home, poor husband.
Congrates to Jamie Lee. Angelia, keep looking for those great scripts and you'll get another shot.

I know this is slightly off-topic, and I'm delighted that Jamie Lee Curtis won an Oscar, but it dismays me to no end that Harrison Ford (who presented the Oscar to his "Raiders" co-star, Ke Huy Quan) has never won. I consider that an injustice of the utmost magnitude.

Fred!

He will probably get, if the Academy has half a brain, a Lifetime Achievement Oscar. It's the award that many who missed an Oscar, get after a full career in film.

Be well! Ed

Yes for sure he will get the Lifetime Achievement Oscar. Lots of great nominees never win the Oscar and lots of excellent performers never get nominated at all. Glenn Close and the late Peter O-Toole have been nominated a record eight times each, without a win. Richard Burton had multiple nominations but never won. It is said that was a sticking point between him and his twice wife Liz Taylor that had won two Oscars.

Composer John Williams has 53 Oscar Nominations, including one this year, but only five wins.

Bassett was the odds favorite to win that category. Bassett has had a tough time fighting for roles and film opportunities, like many minorities in Hollywood. So it was history making and good to see the first ethnic Asians winning acting Oscars.

Bassett will be back, she is a superb actress. Not everyone is gracious in defeat. I am glad no one had a camera on me when I have lost races and/or contests.

Did you know that Angela Bassett was the first actor or actress in ANY Marvel movie to be nominated for an acting Oscar, ever.

He'll have to get nominated more than once. His only nomination was for Witness which I believe was in 1986. William Hurt beat him for Best Actor for Kiss of the Spider Woman. Other nominees that year were Jack Nicholson, James Garner and Jon Voight.

I agree. She is an excellent actress and will get more opportunities of good scripts coming her way that could allow her to be appreciated for the fine actress she is.

Last night in Los Angeles, veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Oscar Award. The daughter of screen legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, the versatile Jamie Lee Curtis has played both serious dramatic roles and comedy roles. All the great nominees in that Oscar category deserved to win, but Jamie was long overdue too. Here is a shot I made for Newsweek Magazine back in 1983 of Jamie Lee Curtis with her co-stars Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd on one of their Philadelphia locations with Independence Hall in the background, while making the movie Trading Places, which is still a comedy classic. Way to go Jamie Lee Curtis.. BTW both Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd have been Oscar Nominees themselves in their long acting careers.

I have had the pleasure of photographing many Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and Grammy winners over my career, and Royalty, Presidents and other World Leaders and five Nobel Peace Prize Winners among too many to list over five decades.

I am also a fan of them, so it was fun as well as work. LOL

We photojournalists have the best jobs in the world at times when we are not dodging bullets in a war or on the streets, or covering tragic disasters. Been there, done all that too.

Cheers and best to you all.
