How about another D7100? They're available for good prices, and it's still the same competent camera?

Does anyone own one of these? Comments about it would be appreciated. Positive and negative. I am probably going to have to buy a new camera since mine failed and is probably not worth fixing. Nikon 7100 with 220,900 shutter count. This one catches my eye and better fits my pocketbook. Thanks.

I have had the 7500 for about 2 years. I love it and it has the 200-500 mounted about 98% of the time. It is the perfect combo for my needs which is birds/animals. I don’t think you will be disappointed if you go that route.
I also have 2 7000’s which I use for other lenses, mostly a 105 macro and an 80-200. I bought all used, privately.
Edit… some suggested a D7100. There is one on here for $275, with a low shutter count.

I have a D7500 because of budget limitations. The D7500 has been a great camera for me. I do not believe you will be disappointed. If I had to do it all over again, maybe I should have spent the extra dollars for the D500.

I have a Nikon D7100 & a Nikon D7500 but keep in mine Nikon doesn't make either one no more. The Nikon D7500 isn't but about 3 or 4 years on the market. That being said you can not get some things like a Vello BG-N18 Battery Grip for Nikon D7500. I've been searching for some time now for one or even a aftermarket one. You would think that someone in the World would have one.
You like the 7100 your going to love the 7500.

Had one before I got my Z7II and then Z9…it's an excellent body and uses all the F mount lenses nicely. And the lack of a second card slot was never an issue for me a I never filled a 128GB card in a single day's shooting and have never had a card failure.

The biggest drawback to it is that MILC and the Z mount are where Nikon (and the other vendors as well concerning MILC) focusing all of the development attention…and essentially the DSLR line is end of life. That has nothing to do with whether or not they still take great shots…they do…but it does not have the faster processor that the Z bodies has or the better AF algorithms that the Z bodies have and will not see any upgrades in either firmware or hardware…and there will be no new lenses issued in F mount.

Whether or not those are drawbacks is up to you…but if MILC is not in your future due to budget or whatever…then the D7500 is a mighty fine body although to be honest a D500 if available and also in the budget is probably a slightly better option.

I own a D7500 and LOVE it. I use it for college sports and it is a fantastic camera. On that note, there is a D7100 listed in todays classified for sale for $275 with only 6600 actuations. That would be a steal if you want my opinion. Since that is what you have had you wouldn’t have to learn anything new. Just charge the battery and go have fun.

I have owned the D7500 since it first came out. I purchased it with the kit lenses, despite the fact that I already had several other DX, due to the incredible review of those kit lenses. I have shot everything from landscapes, seascapes, architecture, automotive, railroads, and model shoots. Great Camera. Don't fret about it only having one card slot.

Let me amplify my prior response. I own both a D7100 and a D7500. The D7500 is my "go to" camera. I have a variety of lenses ranging from a 10-20mm wide angle to a 150-500 zoom telephoto. I get excellent results with the D7500 with all lenses, but I use the D7100 when I know I will be making drastic crops because the sensor has more megapixels (I don't know if that really makes a difference, but I believe it does in some cases). I haven't used the second card slot in the D7100 in ages.

Personally, I would opt or the D7500, but if budget is a real concern, then hop on the used D7100 that is currently available.

When my D80 broke about four years ago I replaced it with a D7500. I've never had any complaints. I use high shutter speeds and high ISO a lot for action wildlife shots. It does a great job.

I have both the 7200 and the 7500 as we travel to remote places in Alaska and Africa, where you are in a world of hurt if you are taking only one camera and it fails. Both has essentially the same menu, and exterior plugs, and handle the same. Have never missed the second memory card slot and very rarely used the folding screen on the 7500. On safari, one has a longer zoom telephoto lenses and the other with a short zoom lens to avoid changing lenses in dusty environments. I really can't tell the difference in the images from either camera.

My D7100 has 2 card slots. I have NEVER used both of them. So, I don't care about that.Don't like the flipping LCD, sounds like just something else to break. Would buy this tomorrow except for this movable part. Need to do more reading. And, I only have two lenses, both of which will fit this body

Don't pull out the lcd and it will not break.

I find a second memory slot extremely useful, after one card was corrupted in the middle of a trip to Pompeii. I had my cards set for sequential. Never again. One is always set for backup.

7000/7100 with tokina 100mm lens it’s hunting for the right focus. The 810 with the same lens finds focus right away. With the 810 I changed the fear of using the wrong settings and watch light, composition…….with the 810 I don’t feel like I need more camera.
I got my 810 used with about 6500 shutter count.
