Does anyone own one of these? Comments about it would be appreciated. Positive and negative. I am probably going to have to buy a new camera since mine failed and is probably not worth fixing. Nikon 7100 with 220,900 shutter count. This one catches my eye and better fits my pocketbook. Thanks.

The biggest 'knock' you're likely to hear is the D7500 doesn't have a 2nd card slot. It also doesn't support as many of the legacy F-mount lenses (pre-digital) as some of the other, still higher-end DSLRs.

Rockwell's review is rather glowing, including this portion of the summary:

The D7500 is a killer camera, with almost all the advantages of the D500 and D7200 combined. It's got the most to all of the crazy speed of the D500, with the lighter weight and mode dial of the D7200 — for $750 less than the D500. BRAVO!

My D7100 has 2 card slots. I have NEVER used both of them. So, I don't care about that.Don't like the flipping LCD, sounds like just something else to break. Would buy this tomorrow except for this movable part. Need to do more reading. And, I only have two lenses, both of which will fit this body

We looked to buy several of these at school both for the annual staff and for students to use. Unfortunately, Purchasing limited us to D5600. As a result, my actual use is limited.

I'd expect that the 7500 is a very natural replacement for your 7100. I also think that in today's world of larger and more reliable memory, the single-card limitation isn't really much of a thing. Tilt probably refers to the rear display. I recall it being fully articulating, though.

It's that tilting LCD that causes me concern. Sounds like something else to break. The lack of 2 card slots is no concern. My 7100 has two and I have never used the second one.

If you don't use it (extend / tilt), there's little risk. But, these screens are much more mature nowadays, more ready for regular use and appearing on nearly all current and high-end cameras.

You don’t have to tilt the LCD, You can leave it flat against the camera back.

The same concern caused me to wait a long time before getting a D500. But in real life, it hasn't been a concern. Like Paul says, I just leave mine locked in its spot on the back of the camera and have not had a problem in almost 5 years. Not sure about your budget, but the D7500 should still be available new.

I replaced my D7100 with a D7500. The D7100 had run its course, and I had to decide between the D7200 and D7500. Since all my lenses would fit either, I went for the faster processor, lighter body and better technical specs of the D7500. I have found the lack of a second card slot a non-issue. I typically pack it with a 32Gb SD card and keep another handy. I usually shoot in both RAW and JPEG, and on my trip to Greece last year, shot over 1,100 photos. I did need to use the second card, but only late in the trip. I never missed the second slot.

You certainly put the miles on your 7100! My 5100 has the articulating screen. I’ve never really used it that much or found it that handy except when shooting super closeups close to the ground on a stubby little tripod. It allows me to use live view instead is laying on wet grass and trying to peer through the viewfinder. When I take it on a motorcycle trip, I flip the screen to the inside for protection. Vibration will wear through the paint on lenses when two hard objects come into contact. Flipping the screen prevents any vibration induced damage.

You must have had a busy day. Earlier I thought you said the shutter count was around 123,000.
Maybe you should get two new cameras for the trip.

We replaced a damaged D7100 with the 7500 and also have the 500 and 850. Wife appreciates the weight of the 7500 and the similar capabilities of the others for a lot less money.

Oh, I see I did say 223,000. That must have been a typo that I missed. I miss a lot when I am upset. Yes, it was 123,000.

If you bought the D7500 you would find the controls similar to your D7100. If you have lenes they would go on the D7500.
I would buy mint in the box if you can find.

Compared to the D7100 the D7500 has about 4MP less pixels which may not be a problem. It also doesn't meter with non CPU lenses which may not be a problem if you don't use these old lenses.
