I'll be on a National Geographic cruise and land excursion at the Panama canal and Costa Rica. I'm trying to decide which of my Canon L lenses to pack. I have the 11-24, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, 100-44 and the 1.4x extender. I'm not opposed to packing all but would, for obvious reasons, prefer not to. Any suggestions? Thanks.

11-24, 24-70, 100-400.

The middle will probably be used the most, and the short shouldn’t take up much room. You’ll have most of the range covered. Second body, if you want.

Came really close to taking that trip, leaving 3/4, but won’t. Enjoy.

I used the Tamron 18-400 and it covered everything. Beautiful results and light weight carry. Enjoy!

If it is a National Geographic cruise they have experts that can help you with your decision, why not call your tour. After all, they are the ones who are experts on your trip.

I agree.

The Canon site says the RF1.4 extender is not compatible with the two lenses most mentioned...?

I went on this cruise. I had with me Nikon D750, 16-35mm and 70-300mm. All full frame. This setup was perfect, I didn't miss anything.

I’ve been to both. I’d take the 24-70 and the 100-400. There are many situations where you’ll want telephoto ability.

I have that lens and yes it is a good all round lens if you don’t care about sharpness. I’m a pixel peeper and I have decided to sell mine. It just is not sharp enough for me.

I am also going on a cruise to Panama, Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico in a few weeks. I have been there before so I have decided to take my two D500 bodies with my 24-70mm & 70-200. My 500pf will be in my backpack, just in case. Enjoy your cruise!
