Absolutely agree. It's a stupid rule. They should play until one team wins the way the game was intended to be played.

The larger bases don't go into effect until this year. The runner on second base for extra innings became effective in 2020 and was not used in post-season 2022.
"The enlarged bases are primarily intended to promote safety -- first basemen are less likely to get stepped on -- but also are expected to lead to an increase in stolen base attempts because the basepaths have been shortened by 4 inches.".

Good point👍 I’d say the distances between home and first and third and home will remain the same. The distances between first and second and second and third will be slightly reduced.

I don't know where they'll be positioned, but there is this online:
"The enlarged bases are primarily intended to promote safety -- first basemen are less likely to get stepped on -- but also are expected to lead to an increase in stolen base attempts because the basepaths have been shortened by 4 inches."That article also said they will be enlarged from 15 sq in to 18 sq in, but that can't be correct
They must have meant "15 inches square to..."

Yes, I wondered that too, which affects a lot of stats.

I don't know what "face time at the plate" is, but here's the newest attempt to speed up the games:
Pitch clock
Pitchers will have 15 seconds to throw a pitch with the bases empty and 20 seconds with a runner on base. Hitters will need to be in the batter's box with eight seconds on the pitch clock.
How it will be enforced: If a pitcher has not started "the motion to deliver a pitch" before the expiration of the clock, he will be charged with a ball. If a batter delays entering the box, he will be charged with a strike.

Agreed Linda! Pitch clock saved 25 minutes average/game in minor leagues this past year...2 hours 38 min/game. I'm all in on PC and out on ghost runner.
Next will be participation trophies will be given to all. This is what happens when rules are being made by people who have never played the game. I say leave it alone.

No ghost runners. Takes away from pitcher/batter duels.

In my opinion, they should shorten baseball games to about three innings. That's about the total amount of action time in any game. It's more boring to watch than golf.
Nothing could be more boring to watch than golf.

I’m sure they meant as you stated. I think the increase in stolen bases…if there is any…would happen because, for example, the edges of first and second (and second and third) will be closer to each other. I guess a few inches could make a difference.
(My math makes the bases 6” closer, not 4”)

Giving teams a "free" runner at second base in extra-inning games to shorten the game is a travesty to the game. IMHO. As one who listened to the Tiger-Yankee 24 inning game (in which Yogi caught all 24).
The new rules are ruining a near-perfect game.

Then you would agree with the old joke: a baseball game; 25 minutes of excitement jammed into 3 hours. Now, when it’s your kid playing, every minute is precious.
I know absolutely nothing about baseball and many years ago an American friend took me to a Red Socks game. After all the innings, the teams were tied and I started picking up all my stuff to leave. “Sit down “ he said, “It’s not over.” The Red Socks won with a home run scored around 1.30am. I’d heard of extra time in UK soccer games, but that’s just minutes, not hours.
