Giving teams a "free" runner at second base in extra-inning games to shorten the game is a travesty to the game. IMHO. As one who listened to the Tiger-Yankee 24 inning game (in which Yogi caught all 24).
I agree with you Steve!

Agreed, less facetime at the plate if they need to shorten them.
In my opinion, they should shorten baseball games to about three innings. That's about the total amount of action time in any game. It's more boring to watch than golf.
I don't know what "face time at the plate" is, but here's the newest attempt to speed up the games:
Pitch clock
Pitchers will have 15 seconds to throw a pitch with the bases empty and 20 seconds with a runner on base. Hitters will need to be in the batter's box with eight seconds on the pitch clock.
How it will be enforced: If a pitcher has not started "the motion to deliver a pitch" before the expiration of the clock, he will be charged with a ball. If a batter delays entering the box, he will be charged with a strike.
My 18 and under team once played an 11 inning game in an hour and 45 minutes. It was 3 up and 3 down on both sides pretty much the whole game. Not a lot of strike outs, either, so no prolonged at-bats.
When they enlarged the bases, it made me wonder if it shortened the distance between them.

Another reason to do away with professional sports - they’re only interested in the money anyway.
I have stoped watching Baseball, because it's not baseball anymore.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m done with this latest travesty to the game I grew up loving.
