According to the guy at BB you don't need a special monitor, any will work by touch. Don't know for sure. I have a 24 inch monitor and it is set on the other side of the desk. Didn't want to have to reach across all the time to use as touch screen. Besides I have always been against getting finger prints on the screen.
And that shows why you do ask questions to moronic sales folks in a store.
Touch screen are 'special' as they react to the touch. They are high priced.
The problem with windows 8 is that it is not made to be friendly to anyone not using a touch screen or a tablet.
It is worthless as an update for a normal desktop or laptop.
Beside the unfamiliar interface it is hard to navigate as multiple clicks are need to access anything NOT Microsoft certified.

You brought up a valid point Wolf, third party software, think one might find themselves backed into a corner there.

After viewing the two video links that gunner posted it seems pretty obvious that Microsoft has designed Windows 8 with IPads and Android Phones in mind, just like they mentioned in the clip. Seems like they are trying to direct the industry as to where they want it. Sorry but I don't feel left out using 7 on the 3 computers here at the house. Admittedly 8 is cute, remids one of CSI Miami or Hawaii 5 0 which is fine. Of course I resisted moving away from Windows XP but the move wasn't that far, not like it would be moving to 8. ight one day put it on my lap top but at this point NOT my PC's.

I'm staying away from 8 also. I got used to the Windows and Vista format. Eventually they will ram it down our throat until we upgrade or our PCs go South and we are forced into it. Let's face it... It is focused at the kids market.

I am not a big fan of the Touch Screen. I get pissed when someone touches the windows on my car and here they want us to touch the screen? Makes no sense? Leave smears all over the monitor?? When you are done why not just wipe it down with a pork chop and be done with it.

It is easy to go to desktop mode which is like normal windows but like I said in a earlier post there are other problems.
