R5 on sale today. $400. off. Ring adapter $50. off.
I had a 5DIII, and upgraded to the 5DIV when it went on a spectacular $1000 off sale for a short time. I was just getting a little comfortable with it when my wife encouraged (Yes) me to buy the R5. It was a huge step forward in quality and features. I've never looked back, though at first I struggled with finding the settings to undo what I'd done. No build or quality issues. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I have the Canon R5. I previously owned the Canon 5D Mark IV. The R5 is outstanding! I haven't had any issues at all.
I too have had both the 5DIV and currently own the R5. I’ve had no problems, and love it. I just wish I had kept the 5D as well.

Aloha UHHs,
I was about to press the purchase button for the Canon R5. But, I got cold feet after reading some of the reviews they were experiencing on Canon's website. Rating for this camera looks like a C+. For those who owns the R5, are you currently having or had issues with the camera itself? Is there a concern that I should be aware of?
This purchase would have been my last upgrade from my Mark 5DII, and I'd be taking it on my upcoming international travel.
My second choice might be the R7.

Thanks for checking. I understand why you would want more information prior to making the investment. My R5 has been and continues to be an amazing camera. I wish you the best on making your decision.

I have both the R5 & R7. The R5 is the finest wildlife camera I've ever owned. I'm 80+, the camera is very forgiving at Higher ISO's so I do push the speed to compensate for my shake. My go to lens is the RF 100-500mm. FYI, I tried my EF Canon 100-400 with adaptor...I found that set up too unbalanced.
Like others here I too love my R5 for many reasons and one of them is how well my high end "L" series glass performs with the R5! Oh also, my Sigma 50mm Art lens also performs well along with the R5's IBIS. Not everybody can afford the RF lenses like the 100-500 etc. If you do get an R5, consider buying it refurbished on the Canon website, they carry the same warranty and you'll also save some bucks too!
I've noticed that the camera may shut down unexpectedly when battery power approaches 50%. I quickly shut off camera, unlatch lens, relatch and turn camera back on. Problem solve. At the next convenient time I put in a fully-charged battery.

I have not witnessed this with either my R5 or R7.

I have had this happen on my R5 with batteries that are near the end of their life.
