But we spent a month of vacation in HK in late fall 1975 and then were permanently there from September 1979 on - until 1984. Those were interesting times when HK was in full swing with great expansion projects, land reclamations, etc. - and no thoughts of handing HK back to China yet. Yep, it's possible! I was stationed on Guam, then the Philippines, and back to Guam. Spent an awful lot of time on aircraft carriers during that period. Pulling in to Hong Kong two or three times a year.
Did you ever make it to Taiwan? I was in Taipei and Tainan a number of times. Usually just a remain over night (RON) in small aircraft for fuel and crew rest on our way to somewhere else. But spent more time (a day or two) on occasion. Very interesting time and places.
