Thanks again to all who responded to my request for feedback regarding a subscription to on-line photoshop. I made the decision to purchase the "Photographers Plan" and downloaded PS & LR Classic. Since I have only used PS CS5 these past 15 years or so, I am unfamiliar with LR and feedback from anyone regarding your work flow practice using both applications would be greatly appreciated. I plan to hit YouTube for related topics, but always find feedback from uglyhedgehog members valuable. Thanks again.

Just google: lightroom getting started utube

After reviewing three or four videos in the search results, you should get a sense of the software. There's a lot of subtle things you can do, but high-level:

1, Offload the images from the camera. This can be maybe the hardest or most complex step, see below.
2, Import into LR catalog
3, Review images, possibly culling, or just deciding what to edit.
4, REF editing, do as much basics to medium-complex in LR and only take what needs PS to accomplish into PS.

The LR catalog seems to be the most complex aspect of the software that throws most people off. Personally, I create my own storage folders outside LR and copy my image files into that location all external to LR. When the images are in the proper & permanent location, I then import into LR using the "ADD" option. LR can automate from card to folder and into LR all at the same time. Except, you really have to pay attention to what the software is doing, or else, your images can go somewhat randomly someplace.

Thanks CHG_canon, much appreciated. Feel a bit intimidated with the software, but I am looking forward to learning use of the best tools to help me improve my photo processing. Thanks again.

The search above was 'free' utube. Under the Support section on Adobe.com, once you've signed-in with your Adobe ID, there's also Adobe created video training that is separate from utube. Use those tools too, since you're subscription is paying to access.

Photoshop with LIghtroom and behance and a few other things cost me $10 and change a month ( tax)
Photoshop will be on your computer , if service goes down, you can still use PS.
They constantly update the software , sometimes very small updates other times very large.
I was a firm believer in buy it once and use it .... But im kind of happy with the new subscription service.
Ifyou can afford the $10.00 I say spring for it. if not, keep using the old version.

I actually have an old version around her on a dvd , for when my wife spends enough that I can no longer afford the $10.00 but thats a different story

I took it for a spin, decided to pass and continue with the version I own. Adobe was kind, offered me a small bit of cloud storage and a slight update to the version I own.

Paying $9.99 per month to Adobe for a subscription to its premier photo-editing program, Adobe Photoshop, along with the included software appears more like a bargain instead of a burden.

Consider also that this subscription comes with periodic software improvements, updates, and fixes at no additional cost to the subscriber. And it all happens with minimal involvement of the subscriber.

Besides, nobody ever said that the practice if photography comes cheap.

BTW: I'm not a shill for Adobe, only wish to clarify the benefit of its software.

I'm glad you guys have plenty of money. I personally will not get involved with any app that requires a monthly payment. Of course you rich guys have money to burn so I reckon it doesn't matter. (:

And you did't even mention great customer support, tutorials, Adobe Portfolio, and Behance.net. It's the best bargain of anything I spend money on for my photography.

Yes, I didn't mention some other aspects that go with the $9.99 monthly subscription to Adobe. I know some individuals object to paying for software more than once. They count themselves out willingly. I say let them be. The field of photography includes all comers.
