There is a suggestion on YouTube that #15 will be the last.

So what? When I upgraded to the 12 Pro, my previous iPhone was the 7. I didn't feel the need to move to the 8, 9, 10, or 11. I may or may not upgrade to the 14 Pro because of the camera improvements, but whether or not I do, it doesn't matter. I'll keep what I have until it no longer does what I need it to do and then get something else.

I don't see Apple getting out of the smart phone market completely. The iPhone represents the LARGEST percentage of income for Apple. They're not just going to say, "That's enough". The iPhone, as we know it, may no longer be made, but they'll come up with something even more amazing.

I hear the iPhone 15 will be even better than the 14.

Yes, each successive model has been "better" than what it replaced. However, the improvements from one to the next have been incremental at best, for the most part. It's always been better to skip a version before upgrading as the improvements will be more noticeable. I didn't upgrade my iPhone 7 until the 12 came out. I thought the 7 was good at photos and video, but the 12 made the 7 look like a Kodak Brownie. OK, that was a stretch. But the 14 (Pro and ProMax) are so much better that I may upgrade now.

The iPhone 14 is the basic upgrade with an improved camera. The 14 Pro has three lenses, wide, ultra wide and telephoto. The 14 Pro Max has three lenses, but the telephoto lens is longer than the 14 and 14 Pro’s, and it has a slightly larger sensor. The Pro Max also has a larger battery with more capacity and lasts longer than the 14 and the 14 Pro. It’s also a tad heavier. Both are physically larger than the basic 14, with a larger screen. If you get an iPhone 14 Pro Max with 512GB or 1TB storage, you will pay as much as you would for a Sony RX100VII. But you can’t make phone calls with the Sony!! 😄

And your iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max photos won't look as good as they would with the RX100VII!

Seriously, I want both.

I am very pleased with the iPhone 14 Pro's camera. This was a much needed upgrade from my iPhone 7+.

I also purchased this phone, to see if the camera would allow me to NOT purchase an expensive pocket camera such as a Sony RX100VII. So far, I see no need to buy a pocket camera anymore.

As good as the iPhone cameras have become, especially with the last three versions of the iPhone, I find it hard to believe that the lenses in these are in the same realm as the Zeiss lenses that the Sonys come with or the Leica of the Lumix.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and I Love it.
This camera will definitely replace my point-and-shoot, and it is always with me.
No, it will not replace my Canon R5 with 28-70 mm L F2 lens, but did I mention that it is always with me?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a lot of good things baked into it, like an "Auto-Macro Mode", and "Pano" which is just amazing, as well as, "Time-Lapse, Slo-Mo, Cinematic, Video, Photo, and Portrait".
How about the ".5, 1X, 2, and 3 zoom modes? Being somewhat of a purist I have avoided the flash mode as in performs quite well with available light.
Yes, I have crossed the Rubicon into Apple Land and I am not looking back.
Oh, by the way, the phone and internet functions work amazingly well also. But, that wasn't the question, was it?
Best Wishes,

You have been assimilated into the Apple collective!

To those with other brands of smart phones I would tell them "Resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated!"

I have a 14 Pro Max and the pictures I am taking are very impressive. For me it is a matter of always having a camera in my pocket and not missing shots as in the past. The only gripe that I have is that with the current set up, the default is to shooot JPEG. You have to remember to specifically turn RAW on. I would like to set it up so that RAW is the default. Does anyone know if that is possible?

Go into your Phone Settings, scroll down until you see CAMERA then then hit the ">" the first thing at the top of the page will show you Formats, Hit the ">" Turn on " Apple Pro RAW. Now go back to your camera and open it up. You should have a RAW icon at the top right of you screen. Here you can turn on an off RAW photos. If you turn it on, it will remain on for all your photos until you turn it off.

The cameras in the latest mobile phones (cell phones for you Yankees) are quite amazing but the phones' grip for taking photos leaves a lot to be desired compared to those specialised devices designed to only take photos. Hah!!
