My wife has the iPhone 14 Pro Max and loves it. It produces beautiful photos.

You kept your 13 Pro Max. Do you see any difference between it and the 14 Pro Max that would make it worth upgrading?

I had an 11 and inherited her 12. I do not see a big difference except that she uses video more that I do. She has yet to take the steps to set up the 48mp shots.

Right, the 12. My grandson has the 12 Pro Max and I don’t see a lot of difference between it and my 13 Pro Max. Like I posted earlier, I’ll wait to see what the 15 Pro Max has to offer. Meanwhile, I’m very happy with the 13 Pro Max.

I have the iphone pro max. I get good results for landscapes, most street photography and impromptu portraits. Careful with the side lighting as flare is noticeable, but the low contrast is not acceptable. Needs dehaze. Low light capability is pretty good and video capability is very good, especially stabilization. Macro isn't too bad and the 48mp raw file shows more detail than the 12mp jpg, but it's only available with the 24mm lens. The big issue I have is the telephoto is only 77mm, not very useful beyond portraiture. Some images come out over sharpened, but in general, the computational photography is good and connectivity, especially immediate access to the internet, is exceptional. You can do some post processing right on the smartphone.

My take along camera is a D7200 (24mp aps-c) with 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. The iphone pro max does not come anywhere near the capability or IQ of the D7200. I keep it in a peak design 5L everyday sling shoulder bag along with a Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5, spare batteries, filters, ... I take it most places I go where I may have an opportunity for a shot. Much preferred over a smartphone camera, but if all I have with me is my smartphone, at least I can take the shot.

I mostly use the iPhone 13 Pro Max now, however I also have my Sony A6300 with th3 16-50 and 55-210 zoom lenses, as well as my Sony RX100VII, which is an exceptional camera. It’s every bit as good as the A6300 and it’s only limitation is the smaller 1” type sensor. But the iPhone is always with me and the others aren’t.

That’s probably when I’ll upgrade from the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The 14 Pro Max just wasn’t enough of an upgrade to justify the cost. We’ll see what the 15 has to offer come September.

Totally agree with you on your point. I'm still using the 13 Pro Max. Waiting to see what the future upgrades offers.

Sorry a phone is not a camera, therefore I cannot comment. Phones have no hot shoe, have no lens flange, has no 1/4 20 thread, there fore, it is not a camera.

Thank you. The sony camera is awful. I have one and am going to sell it. It is confusing to use and jumps around and has to be reset all the time. I would like to get the Iphone 14 to replace it.

There are lots of reviews online, but I'm also seeing reports about how "fantastic" the iPhone 15 will be. Max Tech did two recent comparisons of cell phone cameras.

Buy the phone that gives you the best value for your communication needs. Buy a camera that fits best with your photography style and needs.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and I Love it.
This camera will definitely replace my point-and-shoot, and it is always with me.
No, it will not replace my Canon R5 with 28-70 mm L F2 lens, but did I mention that it is always with me?
The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a lot of good things baked into it, like an "Auto-Macro Mode", and "Pano" which is just amazing, as well as, "Time-Lapse, Slo-Mo, Cinematic, Video, Photo, and Portrait".
How about the ".5, 1X, 2, and 3 zoom modes? Being somewhat of a purist I have avoided the flash mode as in performs quite well with available light.
Yes, I have crossed the Rubicon into Apple Land and I am not looking back.
Oh, by the way, the phone and internet functions work amazingly well also. But, that wasn't the question, was it?
Best Wishes,

No, the phone is not a camera, but the phone contains a camera. It’s just a good point and shoot camera in a different kind of body.

A friend of mine just bought a new iPhone 14 yesterday, but I don't know which model. I has 3 or 4 camera lenses. I should have had you take a pic while she was visiting. I'll ask and try it myself next week sometime. Personally, I am a Samsung / Dell guy.

Dell/Samsung user myself.
My S21-5G Does have a Telephoto with 45 megapixel camera element, [Along with Normal & Wide with smaller]
which does quite well and is slowly replacing my use of pocket cameras.

I have read that the iPhone 14 series currently has hands down the best Smartphone Camera at this time....
