If you get the rx10iv do it soon enough before the trip to learn the camera before you go.
Yes. Hope it is similar to my other sony fullframe.

After lugging my Canon 7D and two lenses all over France one year, I got a Sony RX10IV for the next vacation. It's a fantastic camera for general travel photography. Its performance in dark cathedrals was amazing. I loved it so much that I had to buy a second one after my husband coveted the original one so much that I gave it to him.
I wish my husband would take more pix. But he is a good spotter!

I took Sony a7iii and 3 lenses to Iceland. Would like to travel much lighter for long European junket. Thinking of Sony rx10iv. Rather pricey but like the 600mm reach. Pros/Cons? Other suggestions? Has weather sealing, RAW/JPEG. 20mp 1" sensor. I do print but just for personal use...no gallery show or sales likely! Thanks. Diane
I've seen a few comments on the low light performance of the RX10 IV.
Yes, it may not be as good as the Sony A7 III but it is definitely not as terrible as some people would think. The attached pictures were shot at the full zoom and aperture of a RX10 III @ ISO6400. A touch of noise reduction and they are quite acceptable, at least in my opinion. And if anything, the RX10 IV is slightly better.
Also, noise reduction is far easier to handle than motion blur from shooting at too low an exposure...
Enjoy!

P.S.: I always capture RAW images.

I travel with both the Sony RX100M7 and RX10M4 and an extra battery for each. I use the smaller RX100 for times I am walking around a city at night or in a restaurant (less conspicuous). The RX10 is my day camera. My wife loves that she doesn't have to wait while I change lenses or camera bodies. I am not a professional but I am an avid traveler and all my photos are for me and my wife. The Sony gives me great photos as long as I take them properly (the quality of the photo is often the quality/skill of the person behind the camera).
You won't be sorry. That long reach is wonderful and the lens, by Zeiss, is superb. You may have to play with the focus somewhat but worth it.

Indeed! Working on the behind-the-camera part! Thanks for the info.

I read good reviews. Thanks so much.
I really appreciate everyone's responses to my inquiry. You have all been a tremendous help. I think the RX10iv is in my future for sure. Now if only I could find a good deal...with a warranty!
Thanks again!

I'm a big fan of the RX10-IV, especially as a travel camera. It's everything you need in one package. I'd still be using mine far more than I currently do, but now that I'm older and shakier I need more image stabilization than it offers.

Thanks. We're planning a big trip...while we can still pull it off! Clock is ticking!

I doubt you’ll find a “deal”. Better to purchase from an authorized/reliable merchant.
Good luck and enjoy the trip!!

Yup. I was kidding! No free lunch!
The Sony RX10 iv has stopped my G.A.S. I feel that this one very portable camera covers my particular needs. The reach at 600mm and then even further ( 3rd picture ) with clear image zoom is great. All three pictures taken from the same spot. The 4th picture was from 2 weeks ago at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.
