But if flipping is all that is needed and Photo (viewer) will do it, why get/add another piece of software that will perform the same function that is already available on the system?

I like IrfanView. Have been using it for more than 2 decades. It's ingrained in my workflow as THE viewer and has a fair number of useful bells and whistles. Although freeware, it is updated occasionally (last update was within a couple months). Since I use IrfanView I never use Photo, so I can't really compare them.

I'm really bummed that it doesn't work on my new MacBook.

That was a typo. I meant "EXIT."

Flipping is flippin' easy. Irfanview can do that.

So can Photo <viewer>, and it's already on the system.....

Not knowing what OS you have, I just did a flip on my iPad/iPhone editing in Photos. I understand what you want to do, but I wouldn’t know how to make it happen without using some kind of editor. Somebody out there will probably come up with a way to do it. Lots of luck!

I need to find a way to print an inverse/mirror image of either .jpg or .pdf graphic files. Hopefully, there's a simple program for this somewhere that someone here knows about. Any help would be appreciated as my wife is now interested in printing transfers on a whole assortment of items and wants to add text, etc. Thanks for any suggestions and good luck and good shooting to all.

What imaging software do you have? Most will do flipping and flopping. Some printer drivers will do it, too, so you don’t have to alter the image.

You may already have that feature built into the driver for your printer.

Most of the time I find that option when I go to print anything. It doesn't care whether you are printing .jpgs or text.

It is in the printer options of every HP, Epson, canon and Lexmark printer I've used. It's used for making t-shirt transfers from inkjet printers.

When you flip it using the printer software can you save the change, or is it only for printing?

Thanks to everyone for their input! I currently use a Chromebook (Andriod based) for all my internet activities and my Windows computers have not been online in years now, due to repeated infections and update problems. Anyway, I am still running Windows 7 on my photo editing computer and on my wife's laptop and I can't seem to find a way to flip an image. I guess that doesn't mean that it's not there, I just can't find it and my printer driver also has no such option. Therefore, installing IrFanview on my wife's laptop appears to be a viable option and I hope to find the time to do so sometime today. In any case, I do appreciate all the input here and would still like to find a way to do this on my Chromebook, but can work around it if not. Good luck and good shooting to all and have a safe and satisfying New Year's Holiday!

Win 10 does it and I would guess 7 does also.

Looks like in Win 7 one has to use "Paint" to flip. "Preview" only lets one rotate.
Both are intrinsic Windows programs.

You need to let us know what photo program and computer system you are using before anyone can help you

on one of my printers the printing preferences are apparently embedded in the file. they are there the next time I print that document. Can't remember the other printer as I use it rarely.

either way, once you use it, it is easy to turn on and off. after all, you don't want everything as a mirror image.

I would think just about any but the simplest photo viewers would have that capability. If you don’t have a photo editor but have something like PowerPoint, you can insert the image into a page and then flip it in any direction you want, resize it, and add text or other graphic elements. You can then save that graphic as a .jpeg or several other graphic formats for printing to your transfer medium.

Windows Paint is the answer on my Windows 7 Computers! Thanks, I would never thought to go there and it's already loaded and ready to roll. Problem solved, thank you very much!
