I would if I could. All of our roads are closed. I live in Ontario on the east side of Lake Huron in the traditional snow belt.

Sorry, we don't have any room for it up here. We have too much bad weather of our own. Ooh! It's gone up to 7°. They forecast a high of 10°.

I have to keep running the water to make sure nothing freezes. I don't understand how my dog can run around naked outside.

Thanks guys. Seriously, I know y’all north of us have it a LOT worse (even though you DiD choose to live there 😎), and God forbid you have to fly this weekend. Stay warm, stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Chris

Actually, other than a full-blown Nor' Easter/blizzard, this storm was about as bad as it gets up here in New Hampshire and it sounds like you're enjoying it equally with us. We do put up with a lot, suffering New England winters, but come August, when it's 98 degrees and 90% humidity down your way, we feel about the same for your choosing to live down there. Merry Christmas to you and yours, too.

I am a little confused as to what goes where !

The looser weave goes inside and the tight weave outside. That way, the trapped pockets of air serve as very good insulation!

Loren - in Beautiful Baguio City - where it never gets cold (or hot, either)

And hopefully, the tight weave keeps out the wind and rain.

We're having a paralyzing ice event here in Portland. Ice crystals tinkled down all night, leavingvan inch-thick sheet of solid ice over out streets. Major highways closed, PDX and SeaTac closed. Walking is dangerous. This evening I went to feed neighbor's cats and to leave had to sit on a bag and slide down the driveway on my butt! Wheee!

Made me think of all the poor (feral) animals outside (how will they survive?)

Light weave...tight weave...rain shell...that's the minimal complete winter setup.

Do it right...you can stay warm and comfortable.
Do it wrong...you will start out good...and become more cold as time progresses.

Sorry, but we are dealing eith the drunk and unruly relatives of those farther north from us doing even more damage. We can't even get emergency people or equipment out to some areas. As soon as we clear out our trouble makers we can bring ours back home from your area. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Season's Greetings to you.
