Any suggestions on where to send my Nikon D7200 for repair? The knob on the top left of the camera, both the top and bottom knob, has frozen up. I can turn it with a great deal of difficulty but I would like to get it fixed so it turns smoothly. I have no idea why it is suddenly frozen. I always shoot on manual so I rarely need to turn it.
Unfortunately, you are probably going to have to select from one of the suggested independent service shops for repairs. There are now only two "authorized" Nikon service centers in the US, one on Long Island and one in southern California. But the bigger problem with NikonUSA's service is that they have adopted the Sony support model...only current and one previous model is supported (the D810 will go out of support with introduction of the next "equivalent" model (possibly the Z8?). Also...all parts inventory is now maintained in Japan. Both of my last two repairs (one camera, one lens) had to wait for fairly common parts to come from there.
My local camera shop maintains a 'boneyard' of donor equipment to supply repair parts. They are also part of a national network of dealers and shops who operate a sort of "co-op" parts supply system. They also told me in the course of discussion that the cost of these used parts is rapidly increasing as they have quickly become a scarce resource.
