I’ve had great results with BayPhoto. They come in different finishes. Please be aware that high glossy finishes tend to come out a little more contrasty and darker.

Someone else suggested to have a small version done first. Good advice.

Have you ordered from Bay Photo? If so what type of finish did you get on the metal print? What type of mounting did you have them put on?

Strong recommendation for Bay Photo. Outstanding results, fabulous customer service. I use them regularly and opt for the standard gloss finish with square corners and standard mounting blocks on rear which allows you to easily “float” the print on a wall. I’ve tried several other finishes, but standard glossy the way to go. The idea of metal prints is to POP the colors and glossy is so much more impressive.

They will also do custom sizes.

I’ve used Costco and while results pretty good, I returned to Bay for best quality. I would be leery of CVS. CVS can’t produce a decent paper print. Cannot imagine being happy with metal. If I need aspirin, I go to cvs. If I want photos, I go to photo specialist. (Walgreens, by the way - same thing).

I am wondering if anyone had metal prints made? If so where was it printed and how was the quality? I am looking into having 30" x 20" prints made of several vehicles I've photographed for the champions who won their class. I am not sure where will be best to have them made. Thank you for your input!!

I have not tried them. But I have seen some of their work. My understanding is that if you have an ICC color-managed workflow (i.e.; you do your own post-processing on a custom-calibrated, custom-profiled monitor made for photography and the graphic arts), you can get great results. Don't just order off the web site, though. Call them and talk to a technical customer service rep and get their best tips for quality reproduction. Also get their ICC proofing profile if they have one.

Seriously consider Mpix!! I’ve ordered regular and metal print(s) from them. They run 30% off quite often. Excellent, quality products. You may have to pay a higher price but it is worth it.

After seeing a number of amazing photos printed on aluminum I asked a couple photographers at art fairs how they printed them. They all said Aluminyze. I have had a number of them done since then and they are always excellent. They are not cheap though. If I knew of a place that had the same dependable results at a cheaper price I'd consider trying them/ Aluminyze frequently offers promotions so watch for their sales.

I’ve always use the Groupon app and type in metal prints . You can’t beat the price . I’ve got metal, canvas, and acrylic prints with the app and all are great

Just had a 16x24 metal done by Costco. Sunset with lots of vibrant colors. Happy with the results

The 16x20 I got from Costco was superb.

I don’t believe I’ve actually ordered anything from Bay but I know some of the management and have seen their work up close and personal at WPPI and it looks very exceptional.
I used Die Hard Printing and liked their work.
Personally, gloss white is almost the surface I exclusively used when I printed metal. Sometimes a clear gloss. Tried Matt surface but it’s too dull looking for me.

Yeah, I don’t see the point of getting a metal print in matte. That glossy finish is what makes the look.

Easy to return for refund at your nearest CVS. Try one, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Aluminyze has a 25% off sale with coupon GIFT25. I see Costco is half the price even with the sale and I am going to try them. The largest Costco will do is 24X36 and Aluminyze has a lot more options and goes up to 40X60

I’m also interested in hearing about people’s experiences, including matte vs. glossy.

Frame Destination has great metal frames. They come shipped with glass included. They package them well and I have never had a problem with broken glass. I started using them because they have the common digital sizes.

I don't know about anybody else, but Bay Photo is my go to place for metal. Excellent quality, lots of choices, reliable and excellent packaging.

Glass? For a metal frame?
