Yep, my 20MP Canon 6D would come close to making moonlight scenes into full color. I miss that camera for some uses, maybe I should get another one to add to my gear. What the heck, might as well have 5 DSLRs to go with my R7 and Sony RX10iv bridge camera. And for that many bodies, I will need a few more lenses.

Now to convince my Wife.

Yes. My 16mp Df is great in low light.

Hmmm, I read lowering sensor resolution will allow increase in video FPS (frames per second)
If you are choosing your camera for quality video use it may have a somewhat compromised lower sensor resolution.

A good photographer can use any type of camera. A great photographer doesn’t need photoshop to fix his mistakes.

One of the early problems cutting a sensor into a million and one segments was blooming and smear. By braggadocios advertising the pixel race became "The Thing," quantity over quality.

AI has replace the need for hi sensor pixel numbers. I refer you to the JPEG image taken in 2001 with a 3.1 mp raw sensor rating. Topaz AI made the low resolution cropped image into a hi quality hi mp image:

But they must claim that they use it... Prestige! Basic tools and AI programs and plugin are the needed to make excellent photos. [well yes, good composition etc helps]

... And a *really great* photographer doesn't need a camera at all.

All he needs to take a fantastic photo is his mind, and he doesn't even need to share it... nobody will understand such a incredible art anyway.

Pro sports and action shooters need high DR and low light performance.
20-24mp is also easier to work with.
Finally for publication it is perceived as plenty of resolution.
If this is what works and put into a rugged body that is virtually indestructible then there are those who find that this meets their needs.
That is why.

I would NEVER sell my 6D.... It does justice to the best glass Canon has to offer.

Well I guess we’ll need to demote virtually every photographer that ever shot B&W or color negative film out of the greatest category because they used a photoshop/darkroom to alter their photographs. 🤦‍♂️
