It's just the camera limitation not so much the FAT16. FAT16 supports 2GB.

2GB is the Microsoft recommended limit for FAT16. It can be used up to 4GB but stability can become an issue. The card Jerry first tried was probably around 32GB, I would bet. So, yes, as you state, a camera limitation is a factor, but, so is the fact that the camera only reads Fat16. With or without a limitation the camera could not have read the larger card. Years ago I had a nifty little SD card reader. Not much bigger then a memory stick. Very handy. Took me a while to figure out why it only worked with 1 or 2GB cards. Never realized that even a card reader would have such limitations.

That's because the camera only recognizes Fat16. Larger cards use Fat32 or ExFat.

A friend of mine is ExFat. He used to weight over 300 pounds. He looks much better slim. I knew a girl in high school who was Fat16. She was miserable until she lost weight. 🤣

I've been looking online for a compact pocketable camera - new or used. There are lots of nice little cameras available, but I just didn't want to part with $300+. Then I remembered my wife's camera. Perfect.

I bought her a little Kodak Easy Share One in about 2006. It's an amazing little camera - all metal, heavy, tough. It has a flip-out LCD, internal memory that will hold 1,500 pictures, plus a slot for an SD and another for a Kodak Wi-Fi card that can send pictures to the Kodak printer. The printer uses transfer film to print nice color pictures. It has a flash, 3X zoom, and 4MP. Yes, a whopping 4MP.

Reading the review done by dpreview in 2005, it cost $599, but I doubt I paid that much. The Wi-Fi card alone cost $99. I'm charging the battery now.

You can find more info if you look for the dpreview.

I too have an old Kodak Easy Share M1063. I have forgotten how good the pictures I got were. This picture was taken in 2012.

Beautiful. Judging by the picture, it looks more like 1912.

10.3 MP!

"Friends" of mine once set me up on a blind date with a girl from Tannersville back in the '60's. Who knew that they had FAT18 back then?

A lot of photos are made or lost by the nut behind the shutter release rather than by the fancy camera.

Garage sale finds - Nikon COOLPIX S4200, brand new in the box. $10.00. Nikon COOLPIX S01 - free. Both fit in my pocket and take good pictures. The 4200 has 16MP, the S01 has 10MP.

This is why I stopped going to garage sales - no sales resistance.

When shown a picture of Marilyn Monroe, a popular movie star said, "She's beautiful, but if I was that fat, I'd kill myself."

Very cool, Jerry. You can use the money you saved on software. I hear Topaz is having a sale! 😜

I've got a 2004 Canon a610 for stuffing in the shirt pocket when it's not convenient to carry better gear. Have gotten some great shots with it.
