There are over 6,000 used mirrorless cameras for sale on eBay. I'll contact the sellers and ask them why they're selling. Give me a couple of minutes. 😁

I presume you mean here on UHH, in the classifieds...

I just took a quick look at the first page and, yes, I see two Canon R-series (mirrorless) for sale, but no Canon DSLRs.

There are three Sony E-mount (mirrorless) for sale or just sold.

There no Nikon Z (mirrorless), but four Nikon DSLRs for sale or just sold.

Note: The two Canon R-series are being offered by the same seller and he explains that he (or she) is a life-long Nikon shooter, wanted to give the Canon mirrorless a try to see what the hype was all about, but just didn't feel comfortable with them. Sounds like an expensive lesson! Though to be fair, to rent those particular cameras for four weeks probably would have cost quite a bit more.

You are always free to take or leave my comments as you see fit. I maintain that they are at least as valid as much of the nonsense posted here.

Bottom line is that it does not take a genius or sophisticated research to see that yes...there aretons of very lightly used mirrorless cameras available multiple places in the market. It's really nothing new...for years there have always been tons of almost unused Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 lenses available on the used market...lenses that people thought they had to have until they bought one and found that they didn't need it at all.

As a bystander, and sitter... I appreciate YOUR response to a legit question.. I think it sad when ONE asks a standard question OR GOD FORBID, you don't like someone's pics and post a comment or suggestion... it gets the PEANUT gallery upset and we are treated with snide remarks... the question posted, I believe was genuine, and YOUR response very good.

Keep in mind the average UHH is of retirement age, in all sorts of financial situations, some where buying two top line cameras is no matter at all. A casual scan of member equipment profiles shows this situation many times repeated.

Yep, my wife and I are well off, not rich, but well off.
1. My full state pension as a teacher. With full health coverage from Los Angeles Unified School District.
2. Minor SS from years in other jobs.
3. Minor pension from 13 years working weekends and summers in a supermarket.
4. 40% disability pension from VA for Agent Orange Exposure. (2 years, 2 months, 2 days overseas time out of a 3-year Regular Army
Enlistment, all in Vietnam)
5. My wife is at the max for SS from her years as an OR Tech, RN and OR Charge nurse.
6. She also has a fairly big 401k that we haven't touched yet - she is waiting until age 70 when the monthly payments will max out.
7. We have a special needs son who gets Medicare (30yo but mentally a bright 5yo) and a special state program with 283 hours paid
time a month for a caregiver. Since we are both retired, we do the care ourselves and get paid for it.

So, I can afford fairly nice cameras, lenses and other gear. Sigma SD10 + SD14 (traded), Canon 6D (traded), Canon 5Div, 7Dii (two, traded one, missed it, got another), 80D, 90D, R7 and my latest a Sony RX10iv for a carry around just in case. And of course a big selection of lenses over the years, sold some, traded up models with some etc. etc. and last but not least a photo printer that goes to 13x19 but on "custom" will do 13x39 when fed roll paper.

So, yes, some of us can afford toys etc. The wife finally is starting to admit that (she tends to act like we were in poverty) and after asking why I wanted such a big car (midsize SUV) is starting to talk about trading her Honda Civic for an SUV (she takes mine when she goes shopping) only "one with more room in the back seats" for when she helps haul Special Olympics athletes around = a full size SUV.

@robertjerl After watching a video of thieves stealing a wedding photographers equipment, I am wondering if the camera bag manufacturers will soon offer a handgun holster option?

They already do. But most aren't called a camera bag, it is called a messenger bag etc. Same thing, different name and with changeable compartments.
Yes, I am also a "gun nut" who for several years worked part-time as armed alarm response security and worked 10 years for a friend who owned three gun shops and police gear shops.

Actually, since the camera bag is what the thieves will be going for, it is better to carry the gun separately like an inside jacket pocket or an under the belt holster hidden by the jacket or shirt.
I like many things about living in So. California, but not being able to get a permit to carry in my county is not one. This county is better than many like LA or SF, but still they say I have to have a "good reason" and just having expensive cameras doesn't count.
Now if I moved back to my hometown in Kentucky I could not only get a permit but open carry is common, especially when hunting, hiking or fishing. And of course having gone to high school with a relative of the Sheriff helps also. I might get some ribbing about leaving "The People's Republic of Calfornia" to move back to "God's Country" where I can carry and the worst I would get from the town cop or a deputy is "Is that a ....? Mind if I look at it? I've been thinking about getting one myself."

Maybe they are upgrading from the R to R5 or something. Or maybe they are unhappy with Canon shutting down 3rd party RF lenses.

I wish you used "quote reply" so we know who the "you" is that you are complaining is "snarky". A "snorkie" is a dog breed, crossbreed of a Miniature Schnauzer and a Yorkshire Terrier, about 8-12 pounds with 20 pounds of YAP.

Hey I am sure an equal number of Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Olympus cameras are on sale as folks decide to go for improved models that have been introduced by all makers.

Folks will want to get as much value for their current cameras as possible, and usually the longer a model is around the more it depreciates as improved models are released.

And as an administrator and moderator of several Worldwide Photography Groups on Facebook with many tens of thousands of members around the world using all brands of gear, yes we are seeing group members say they are now moving away from Canon R cameras in part because of Canon's ban on third-party RF lens makers which restricts their affordable choices for quality RF glass, not the cheap kit RF lenses.

Some here live in a permanent fanboy bubble, but the reality is yes this Canon move has had a ripple effect around the world for many current and would-be Canon R buyers. It wont matter or effect what Canon management decides to do, but in the end it is Canon unnecessarily applying the cripple hammer again to itself.

Sometimes companies get so big and arrogant , they lose sight of how best to expand and take care of their base .

Smart to sell now, not later.

Cheers and best to you all.

No, I'm not wanting to criticize R cameras. I'm just curious why the owners have put the up for sale, so quickly?

Probably upgrading
