Time to make whistle pickles! Quarter the smaller ones and pickle them with hot peppers. They’ll make you whistle when you taste one of them!

Worth a try - I like spicy.

So good...great harvest.
I'm going to try again this year after a sabbatical....our deer are formidable on this property.

Years ago I had 40 plants in 3 gallon pots doing great...on a few of my growing tables. All starting to turn...big and plump.
Next day I walk by them...all the fruit was gone...all the fruit except the one in the middle all the way back...gone.

It took me a while before I realized the culprit while walking my big Chessie...tons of tomato seeds in her poop.
Oh well...we will try again this year.

Well done sir!! Mmmm good.
So good...great harvest. br I'm going to try again... (show quote)

You post reminds of a year when our cauliflower were just about ready to harvest. They looked terrific. We headed to late morning mass at church and came home to six missing cauliflowers. The culprit, our young golden retriever. She also loved picking her own raspberries.

Rather than pick mine it was suggested that I pull up the plant, roots and all. Use a rope or heavy twine, tie at about where the roots start and hang in a cool place, yes, they will be upside down.
I used my garage.
They ripened thru the end of December! I had 8 varieties and they were as tasty as they were during picking season.
There will be some ripe ones getting riper, the green will continue to grow at a slow rate, no sun required!

Took my three tomato vines out today, this is my green harvest. Tks to someone from last yr who suggested saving the green ones and let them ripen as they will, and enjoy them well into yr end. Worked like a chram last yr, expect the seame this yr. Unreal how many BLTs we enjoyed well into December, and looking fwd to same routine this yr.

Wish I could rememer who made the suggestion to harvest and let ripen on the floor, but thank you anyway. You will be in my thoughts as we enoy each one!

"Fried Green Tomatoes" and "The Price of Tomatoes" two fine productions" And this an excellent production as well. thanks for sharing. There was also a Gomer Pyle show also titled The Price of Tomatoes" with Denver Pyle as a guest star. Not quite up to the others.

We have lots of green tomatoes and a cooking apple tree with loads of fruit, so this year we’re going to have a go at making green tomato chutney.

I tried a new tomato plant this year called 'bush goliath'. Amazing plant. I've never seen so many tomatos off one plant. I mad some fresh tomato juice from a bunch and have green ones on the window sill ripening.

/they will ripen faster in a paper bag than just letting them sit on the floor. I have some in a paper bag right now that are ripening nicely. whatever you do, DON'T put them in plastic bags! That will make them rot, because it holds all the moisture in.

Wife puts 2-3 at a time in a window with sun exposure. This keeps us supplied in delicious treat for a good while.
