Took my three tomato vines out today, this is my green harvest. Tks to someone from last yr who suggested saving the green ones and let them ripen as they will, and enjoy them well into yr end. Worked like a chram last yr, expect the seame this yr. Unreal how many BLTs we enjoyed well into December, and looking fwd to same routine this yr.
Wish I could rememer who made the suggestion to harvest and let ripen on the floor, but thank you anyway. You will be in my thoughts as we enoy each one!

Do they taste as good as the fully ripe ones? Like the ones that ripen on the vine?

Agree, but my fav is BLTs.
I did the same thing yesterday, as I do every year. I'll be eating fresh tomatoes at least through Thanksgiving. Enjoy your harvest.

Hope you enjoy as much as I will😎😎
We do the same thing. It might be an old wive's tale but we were always told to wrap green tomatoes in newspaper or put them in a paper bag and they'll turn red. They never taste as good a vine ripened but I look at it as the last (free) garden tomatoes I'll eat, for another 9 months.

We just lay ours out as shown in the photo. Then wife places two or three at a time in the window to ripen. Delicious!
So good...great harvest.
I'm going to try again this year after a sabbatical....our deer are formidable on this property.
Years ago I had 40 plants in 3 gallon pots doing great...on a few of my growing tables. All starting to turn...big and plump.
Next day I walk by them...all the fruit was gone...all the fruit except the one in the middle all the way back...gone.
It took me a while before I realized the culprit while walking my big Chessie...tons of tomato seeds in her poop.
Oh well...we will try again this year.
Well done sir!! Mmmm good.

I've put up fences before...I just dislike the idea of it all. When I do I usually plant a few rows on the outside of the fence as well...give the rabbits less motivation to dig under...usually works.
But those deer...lol...they jump a 6 foot fence like it's nothing...if they can see through the fence.

Time to make whistle pickles! Quarter the smaller ones and pickle them with hot peppers. They’ll make you whistle when you taste one of them!
Stan
Lots of future green tomato pies there.
