For once I am going to praise them!

We just moved to a new town. We had to insure our new home. We got a refund in the mail today due to overpayment. The address was wrong and the numbers were backwards. The post office did find us. Instead of the yellow sticker with the new address forwarded from our old address was a sticker that said We arw glad we found you please notify sender of your new address. I notified my insurance guy and at least he admitted he turned the numbers arounds.

Lucky you!! A few months ago I received an email from USPS that they couldn't deliver a piece of my mail because the address label was unreadable. It was readable enough for them to read my name and find my e-mail address which was part of the information on my "Informed Mail" account which also contained my physical address and phone number. I don't know why they couldn't just write my address on the envelope and deliver it.

This particular envelope had medicine in it from the "by-mail" pharmacy I use. The pharmacy wanted to wait until they received the envelope back before resending. When I was down to 5 days worth of medicine they finally shipped it while still waiting on the first envelope to be returned. Thirty days after the original email I received another email saying they were then sending the envelope back.

USPS in this town is very unreliable and I cringe whenever a package is sent through them. I will also mention that it's not unusual for our mail to arrive after 8pm several times per month.

I sent a letter to my bank which is about twelve miles away. I took ten days to get there. I' just glad it wasn't a late payment.

My bank's headquarters is in Manila, which is 145 miles from Baguio. When they send letters to me it takes a month for them to get here! - and it typically is 3 months from here to the US!!!

How often are people sending letters to banks and vice versa? Heard of electronic communications?

We are lucky to have an excellent carrier. Unfortunately, when she takes time off we are stuck with a mess.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or is scary that they were tracking you.

Of course!!! But you obviously live in your own little (European) world!!! Some things are done electronically, and some by other means (US and other governments, business and private, all included)!!!! Thanks for bringing me "up to date" - though I've been using computers for possibly longer than you've been alive.

My car loan office waits until about 14 days before it's due, to send my monthly loan invoice. If I don't mail payment the same day, the post office takes about 10 days to deliver it and the car loan office sometimes lets it sit in their in-basket another 4 days making it a late payment...and charging me a late fee.

Yes, I've heard of electronic payment. I limit the number of places that have my email address since I've already received several notices that other companies have been hacked, with my and several thousand other addresses no doubt ending up in a dark web mailing list.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to cause offence. I was seriously surprised that people need to use snail mail so much for banking. I have sold property with all electronic signatures and secure digital identification. I can’t think of a situation that would require paper to be mailed between me and the bank.
What makes you think you have been using computers longer than I have been alive? Now I am amazed at how you work that out from a simple post on here.

Just a bit of probable exaggeration, really to indicate that I am in no way a newcomer to computers, and their usage for many things. Incidentally, there are many entities requiring mail, including the US government, at the very least for some Social Security responses (as the "dead or alive" letter I have to send every year). One of the largest banks in the Philippines uses mail notifications, hence my statement.

I am glad you got your medicine! This is a big city too so I surprised they found me. But one of the first things I did was introduce myself to my mail carrier!.
It is just strange how the mail works. Our son lives in an apartment building and one time I forgot the put the apartment number on a card that I sent him. I got it back so I guess the post office in that city was not able to find him.

I didn’t think you were a computer newbie. My question about heard of electronic communications was rhetorical and not direct at you.

Yep, it is helpful to get to know your mail carrier!

Have you considered doing your bill paying through your bank with their online bill pay option? When a friend mentioned this to me I was leery because I was unsure about security. I made a trip to the bank and talked to one of their representatives who used the feature and he explained the security, other features and advantages. I signed up and have been using it for years with no issues with the bank.

One situation that did occur was that one of my credit cards did not receive the payment. I always print the transactions list so I checked that first, verified online that I had indeed made the payment then I called the bank. The woman I talked to asked a few questions and said she would call the company. A little while later she called back to say the credit card company did not receive the payment so she was resending it and there would not be a late fee on the credit card account nor any reflection of a late payment on my account because she had the proof that I had made the payment in plenty of time and that they had issued a check that was mailed to them.
