Where I come from now, So.E.Queensland ... we had one case of the mutated English covid 19 and we're locked

down and masked up (AUD$1,300 fine) from 6:00 PM Fri - 6:00 PM Mon.

Stay well.

Where I come from U.S. citizens live in the U.S. and engage in those things relevant to the citizens of the U.S.

Where I come from Retired Military veterans are respected and not insulted until the Demo Crats illegally gain control. But I'm not going to run away and hide in Australia.

Where I come from I can excercise my right to live where and how I want, including in an RV without people looking down their noses at me.

Where I come from, life is good until the Demo Crats are illegally in control, and I'm glad and free to call myself an American Citizen.

Where I'm from, I'm a Trump supporter!! and A LIFE MEMBER of the National Rifle Association!!
And the owner of an Olympus TG-6 water proof point and shoot pocket size camera that is always with me.

Did you know that, by numbers, expat Yanks would be the 23rd state?

Moves are afoot to organize us into a voting block as the French expats do.

We're after our own senators and congressmen. Interesting eh?

Just quietly, I was sort of chummy with an E6 at Ft Hood, where I served my final months stateside.

(He went with me to hear Hanoi Jane speak at the Oleo Strut in Killeen, Tex. She wanted us to down tools and go on strike. I don't think she knew how harsh military justice is.)

He sez to me on my last day ... "You won't make it Tex! You'll be back Tex!" I miss those guys.

Because someone lives in an RV doesn't make them homeless.

Through my Dad I once met a guy from his Masonic Lodge who lived in a custom built RV made from a Greyhound Bus. Counting the bus, bought new from Greyhound Lines and the customizing plus a custom trailer it was north of $500,000 in the 70's. It had bicycles, a dirt bike and a canoe in racks or the trailer, satellite TV, satellite Phone plus a lot more.
He owned large lots/RV parks in 3 or 4 states, a "Guest House" for his hired grounds keeper/manager who ran the RV park part of each lot etc. His spot at each was always empty unless he was there. He did have a large house just outside of St Louis as his legal mailing address - His Son's family lived in the main house but he had an apartment for himself added on it to live in when he was in town and turned the RV over to the shop for upkeep etc. The man and his wife (sometimes guests and grand kids) were on the road or in one of his RV parks 10+ months out of the year. I met him at the annual Shriner's Circus/Fund Raiser in St Louis for their Children's Hospital. My Dad was a member of the same Masonic Temple and Commander of the Masonic Honor Guard (all Reserve County Police Officers) providing security for the Circus - I was visiting and he took me with him one night and while there I met the guy who was always in St Louis for the Circus each year.

A bit "different"-YES!
Multi-millionaire several times over-YES!
Retired with his Son running the company now-YES!
Loved to travel and "Camp Out-sorta"-YES!

Homeless-NO!

For f@cks sake allow a guy some poetic licence. Sigh ... I guess the po-faced will always be with us.

He's on a military pension and can afford conventional housing if he chooses.

Quietly, Prescott, Az. is the best kept secret in the US. (especially for SoCal inmates, that's where I come from)

It snows but is very mild by N American standards. It has a new VA hospital and is large enough to have a

specialist fiddle shop. Prescott is the only US place I visit these days.

I'm not the one who called him homeless. (Yes, I was 90%+ sure it was a joke, but...) If you don't have any reason to be tied to one spot it sounds like a great way to live.
I have known a few other people who lived in an RV and traveled all the time with legal residence and mailing address somewhere. But the guy I wrote about was, as you can tell from my piece, a bit "different".

I am a Vet with partial disability pension but I am in one spot. Even if I wanted to do the RV thing I have obligations that tie me down. Just going to a new fixed place to live out of California is out of the question unless we take a big hit on income, health plan etc.

My brother retired after 23.5 years as a Medic. Not a regular one, he was sent to Berkley Med School for a year and qualified to do some emergency surgeries. They tried to get him to stay at Berkley, get an MD and a commission but he turned them down. He chose to settle in Florida because it is warm and thanks to bouncing from Korea to Germany to the States and back several times he now hates traveling further than the store or maybe a one day fishing trip. On very rare occasions he will go visit family in St Louis or Indiana for a week.

I always carry a small point-and-shoot for my MTB rides in the forests and suburbs here in Sweden. I know, the discussion camera vs. cellphone always comes up. If you just want a good photo in wide-angle and do not give a rat's ass about depth-of-field and background bokeh, the phone is okay.
Still, there is one terrible property of the phone regardless of the picture quality, and that is the handling. The phone is very bad for quick actions and especially bad if you have gloves on. You can handle a point-and-shoot with gloves on. Try that with a phone!
A good point-and-shoot has a zoom too. It is closer to a real DSLR concerning general properties than a phone. Of course, a phone is far better than nothing . . .

Guns and cameras have something in common. Gun fans always say the best gun you can have is the one you have on you when it is needed. The little .380 in your pocket might save your life if you get mugged or carjacked, while the more powerful .45 or .10mm sitting in your lockbox at home won't help you at all. And the little point and shoot camera you have on you when a spectacular picture opportunity comes up will let you get the photo, while your $2 or $3 thousand dollar camera at home won't help. For this reason, I always carry a small point and shoot camera with me, while I leave my better, more expensive camera at home. If I go for a particular photo, I take my DSLR, but that isn't my everyday camera. What say you?

Nice gun, but rather expensive. Almost as expensive as a good used Canon EOSD-1DX

Really not that expensive...
With the law enforcement discount the
Pistol was around $440.00
The Green dot laser was 95.00
and Optics was 125.00

With all the off the wall stuff you post, Ron, give the guy a little latitude. If he'd left out the gun part it could have been in another section.

I do like a combination of the two. Attach your point and shoot to your gun. Make it a point and shoot and shoot. Point the gun at your target, shoot the gun, you'll know if your camera is on target if you hit. Then shoot the camera. The end result might be somewhat different from the original photo intended. This method is designed for use only with inanimate objects.

Good point (also without "and-shoot")
