If you're growing weary of hearing about Covid-19, there may be a new virus of interest. Some brilliant scientists in Boston have created a new virus that is 80% lethal. They combined features of the Wuhan and Omicron variants and produced a new virus that's immune to all vaccines.
In testing it on mice, they added human cells to the mice, "humanizing them," so we can expect a very high mortality rate in humans. They found that this man-made virus can reproduce in a host, just like a natural virus Just how good is this Boston lab's security, and how trustworthy are its employees? Will the lab keep going until they produce a virus with a 100% kill rate? Will other countries be encouraged to develop this virus now that the details have been released? These researchers have received criticism from around the world. The lab denies that it did this.
Twisting this to turn it into something political will get it sent to you-know-where, so let's try to stick to the topic.

I've never understood why anyone would do this - except for truly evil purposes.

Some people wonder "What if..." without thinking through the possible consequences.
You think
that's a bad virus? Here, hold my beer....

Gee! Just what the world needs. Why can't these people work on something beneficial to mankind?

We need specialists knowleadgeable in field to review their work, no peer review yet.
Researcher quite often make claims to gather attention and get grants quite away from their actual work
To a non virologist looks like they added parts of one covid strain to earlier strain No data to support extra infectiousness or lethality
This is common approach to see where evolution is going, nature dies that all the time.
Meanwhile get newest vaccine keep N95 masks alcohol desinfectant handy not for Covid but for flu
Of course get flu vaccine, will be nasty. Remember these vaccine protect some against illness but main reason to take them is to prevent severe illness and death

That's what they claim they were doing.

Yes, they are replying to criticism by saying they didn't do what people are saying they did. The truth?
The thought is that evolution would not have produced the virus they created, so it's not considered a variant but something completely new. Whatever they did and whatever this is, I hope it doesn't get loose.

You can guarantee this sort of thing is being carried out in labs around the world. Its human nature to attain perfection in anything...no matter how that end product might be used. I'm convinced that the covid 19 virus was an 'escaped' experiment.

I for one am very weary of the pandemic. As a pharmacist in a major NYC hospital my colleagues and I have had enough. We are so stressed that every night we go to sleep to wake up the next day wondering what new challenge is waiting for us. I hope this is a poor joke. I have a foundation with a fundraiser that has been on hiatus for two years now.
We are our own worst enemy.
I will not allow this pandemic crap rule my life. I haven't from the beginning.
Jerry, It would be more likely that one of the technicians would come in contact with the virus and be unaware that they were infected. The virus is most likely spread through their contact with others. Once the Genie is out of the bottle, there is no way to put it back in. It's much like being married.😜

"Gatling wrote that he created it to reduce the size of armies and so reduce the number of deaths by combat and disease, and to show how futile war is." This quote popped up in my head regarding Dr. Gatling's invention.
When I called at the CDC's labs in Georgia, I spent a little time in a conversation with the lab director about Ebola and other "critters". One of the things he commented about was the "Unknown Viruses" of the future. He stated that research is a double edged sword. How to get the information without causing inadvertent harm? How does one set up a lab system to test for that "Super-germ" without knowing what restraints would hold it? It didn't help me knowing that behind the glass of the tank I was standing against, a couple of Ebola-laden snails were working up the plate. I will also say that the researchers that I got to know, had their misgivings to work through. Not all researchers are alike. History has definitely shown us that.
