The Cougar Trail (my name for it) meanders along Cherry Creek through one of the most appealing canyons in my neck of the woods. Even when the forest is dry and the water flow is intermittent, the Cougar Trail is a good place to be. I have had trail cameras placed at various locations along the creek, but my current spot is the best I've found--a good thing since I've lost the key to the locking cable.
Coatimundis, mostly just called coatis (ko WAH tees) are abundant along riparian areas, and this tribe of them seems to be flourishing. Nearly all the coatis you see in these snapshots taken from trail cam videos are youngsters; they are all quite small. Since they also climb trees it is easy to imagine you're watching a band of monkeys.
The bear has only made one appearance on this camera, and I look forward to seeing more of it. The animals were moving just fast enough in the videos to prevent my getting really sharp stills; I don't know what everyone's hurry was.
I hope you enjoy these photos and maybe soak up a little of the magic in that canyon.

Very nice pictures! I'm curious - what is the stone structure at the left edge of number 6?
