I have been using Lightroom Classic and Photoshop for years and never had a problem with them - until now. When I open Lightroom on my Windows laptop, I get the intro screen with the picture of a figure apparently doing a flip. Then the program opens up to the work area, but the hourglass stays on and everything freezes. I can move the hourglass around, but it doesn't highlight anything and if I click on something, everything greys out and freezes and there is a message in the upper left corner that says, "Library Not Responding". Photoshop responds similarly. I have switched the libraries and created new ones. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs several times. I have checked my graphics drivers. I have gone through diagnostics on the computer. Everything checks out fine, but nothing solves the problem. Has anyone had a similar problem, and does anyone have the solution to it?

I spent an additional half hour with an Adobe rep today. Installed a new version of the graphics card driver and it appears to have solved the problems for now. PS is still acting a bit hinky, but it's working. LRC seems to be working well. Thank you all for your input and help. I just want to say to those who recommended abandoning Adobe for other editors, that just isn't an appropriate answer to a request for help. I have been using Adobe products for years and have invested a lot of time and effort into learning the programs, and have thousands of photos that are edited and catalogued with them. I understand your distaste for continually having to pay for them, but to me and probably 10's of thousands of other users, it is worth it for a number of reasons. Imagine if you had to change from the editing program you like. How would you take to that idea?
