I don't blame anyone, just marketing practices. I already have two R7's and I use both of them. My issue is they both came with the 18-150 lens and I certainly have no need for two of those lenses and right now there isn't much of a demand for them. In fact, I am not even using the kit lens. I have adapters on both bodies and use my EF lenses on them and they work quite well. As for the big camera retailers in NYC, I got one R7 from Best Buy in Delaware, no sales tax, and one from Canon. I originally ordered the camera from Canon and was put on a waiting list. I then saw the Best Buy near me in North Delaware had them in stock, so I drove down to DE from PA and got one. I then cancelled my order with Canon, or thought I did, but apparently didn't, because a few days after going to Best Buy, the R7 from Canon was delivered. Now I have two 18-150 lenses when I didn't really want any. Know anyone looking for an RF 18-150 lens?

Or someone with the 18-45 who now wants just a bit more reach.

I see that "Venus" (Laowa) is bringing out lenses in the RF mount. I guess the Chinese don't give a rat's a** about Canon not wanting third party RF lenses on the market.

I believe that they are MF lenses and Canon has an issue with others selling AF lenses

I use Laowas. AFAIK all their lenses are 100% non electronic and fully manual.

The only real difference in bayonet lens mounts is their dimensions. You cannot own a set of dimensions. Im unaware of anyone owning a current patent on the concept of bayonet mounts. Apparently everyone is allowed to copy and market just the physical shape of any mount.

I doubt that the Chinese care much about Canon's "issue".

And MF just means that Canon can't make the Chinese lenses into paper weights through the AF software.
A lot of people like and use MF lenses, I have a couple in EF mount and my old film cameras (in a box) all the lenses are MF.

Speculation:
Most don't have any RF lenses unless they got in on the FF bodies, and even those people had no RF-s lenses designed for the R7 & R10 crop sensor bodies since the two you can get in kits are the first RF-s lenses (they are small and light with very good image quality) so they manufactured kits. That way, the two crop sensor bodies would be producing at their best when used.

None of this "I can't get any perfect shots. These two models are sub-par." = Of course, they don't mention they are using an EF > RF adapter with a "Cheapo Plastico" lens from the "Bargain Basement Store". Alternately, "Lens are too expensive." because they are using RF "L" class lenses made for the FF cameras.

I have the RF-s 18-150 kit lens (I keep putting 18-135, please excuse senior moments.) with my R7, it is a neat little "walk around" lens, small light and produces very good images. I also got the RF 100-400 non "L" which is also pretty small and light and only $650 instead of the $2899 for the RF 100-500L. In the center it is almost the IQ of the L and the crop sensor body only uses the center of the image circle anyway. It also works well with the RF 1.4x.

I have performed an inquiry regarding who has EOS R7 body only in stock. I usually use B&H I have one on backorder, but they did not claim in stock.
Adorama claimed R7 body only in stock, as did Mike's Camera in Sacramento. When I went to their website the R7 was on backorder.
The wait has been frustrating but claiming "in stock" and not having the product is just wrong.

Advertising a back ordered product as in stock is cruel and the people should be shot in the knee. This is as bad as Abeโ€™s of Maine, I mean New Jersey.

Everyday I drool over the Canon R3. I wait and wait and my beard and mustache grow longer. Yet everyday B&H still lists it as backordered.

I agree. The R3 sounds wonderful and I hope it arrives soon. I think Canon will make higher end cameras available sooner than the APC.
Hang in there!

Unless you have already invested your money(and that should be fully refundable), there are other points of business that could have, and already can, provide what you seek. Because you do not look for other alternatives shows you just want to complain.

I love Allen's Camera in Levittown, Pa., outside Philadelphia. They are also the fav of Jared Polin (FroKnows) as it is where he got his start. I found much better success ordering new gear from Allen's. They also stock and sell top used gear (even Adorama buys used gear from Allen's to sell at Adorama. I have witnessed Adorama buying used gear at Allen's). https://allenscamera.com/

Glad you got the two that you wanted. You could check with Allen's and see if they would give you anything on a trade for one of those 18-150mm lenses, or check with KEH. Probably not worth too much, but you might get something for it, rather than having it just collect dust sitting on a shelf.

Cheers and best to you.

I put in my order for body only in May, the day it was announced. But I got impatient and finally added the kit lens even 'tho I intend to have my Sigma 18-300 + adapter on it most of the time.

Thanks for the heads up on the timeline. I just do not want to pay for a lens I won't use. I did order the adapter when I placed my R7 order, so I can use my preferred lenses. That part of my order came within 5 days.

There are lots of us Hoggers who are waiting and drooling over the R3.
Where is Paul Sager? I know itโ€™s windy where you are but could you give us a shout out?

it's actually 18-150 and it is a great walk around combo with the R7.
